fvivrewvrd With the fading of summer into fall, we witness the abandoning of summer activities to once again' enter' 'thechallenging doors of learning. The bewildered and somewhat frightened freshmen, the eager sophomores, the confident juniors, and the proud but somewhat sad faces of the seniors flood the mighty halls of L. G. PINKSTON to uphold and respect the loyalty of our alma mater. The faces of Pinkston are many and varied, but they reflect you, the student body. Yes- terday a happy face, today saddened, tomorrow a tearful but eager face meets the world with meek anticipations. These are the young years, the fruitful years when time means only the day after tomorrow. These are the years of wistful-eyed beings with tender dreams, but youth is brutal as well as tender, and youth is reality as well as a dream. A flower blooms and fades and blows away--and blooms again, according to the season: and in like manner youth exists from spring to spring, for to everything there is a time. It is our hope that this first edition of THE VIKING will portray our school accurately. If you can identify with activities and persons herein included, then our work has been to good avail. Let us hope that this is only the first of a long series of portrayals of a fine, American high school.
