Historical Kefrvspevf The L. G. Pinkston High School was dedicated at 2:00 p.m. , Sunday afternoon, Nov- ember 15, 1964. This was a very historic occasion, first, because it marked the dedication of the first Senior High School in Dallas West, and, second, because the L. G. Pinkston High School is one of the most unique schools in the Southwest, in that it is a comprehensive high school offering opportunities for students to major in three areas of concentration: College Preparatory, Vocational Education and Industrial Education. I. Willard Gragg, Vice-President of the Board of Education of the Dallas Independent School district, delivered the dedication address. Others appearing on the program were: Dr. W. T. White, Superintendent of Schoolsg Mrs. L. G. Pinkston, Sr., widow of Dr. L. G. Pinkston, Sr. , for whom the school has been namedg Reverend I. B. Loud, and, the Golden Chimes Concert Choir of the L. G. Pinkston High School under the direction of Mr. Roy E. Hicks. Dr. Thomas Tolbert, Principal, presided over the entire proceedings. It was with a feeling of professional confidence that the assigned personnel assumed their responsibilities in a building which is unique in its facilities. Immediately upon the as- sumption of their professional duties, the staff resolved to rise to the fulfillment of its individual and collective potential by the development of a curriculum through the Four Year Educational Plan. The subject offerings at the L. G. Pinskton High School are broad because the mission of this school is to help prepare students for adjustment and usefulness in our changing society. As patriotic citizens of the United States of America, thelstaff realizes that it is chal- lenged to fill its assignments with competence in order that the students will be pre- pared for the opportunities which are theirs,
