Seniors 4 Faculty 21 Underclassmen 27 3 Organizations 49 Student Life 62 Sports 79 Graduation 101 Advertisements 107 “Back to the Future’’ L’Arise High School 1987 - 88 Mrs. Magnuson It is with great pleasure that we dedicate the 1987-88 yearbook to Mr. Andrew Gauthier and Mrs. Mary Lee Magnuson. Mrs. Magnuson has taught at L'Anse High School for 25 years. What she enjoyed most at LHS were the teaching staff and the students. During her time here, she has taught English I, II, III, IV; Journalism, Dramatic Prep., ReCaRE, Vocabulary, Reading for Enjoyment, Literature 8, World Literature and Advanced Composition. One of her favorite sayings is That’s your re- sponsibility. You’re seniors now. We wish Mrs. Magnuson a very hap- py, enjoyable retirement. Mr. Gauthier Mr. Andrew Gauthier has taught at L'Anse High School for 26 years. What he enjoyed most about being at LHS was being able to teach in the woodworking area. During his time here he has taught woodworking, draf- ting, metals, and conservation. One of the things he likes to tell his boys is that If you don’t remember what I told you, at least remember that you forgot!” Mr. Gauthier would like to thank all of the kids for being kind to him and for being good. We wish Mr. Gauthier a very happy, enjoyable re- tirement. 3 In Memory Of Steven Hemminger 1970 - 1988 We would like to dedicate this book in memory of Steve Hemminger, our class- mate and friend, whom shall be forever near. FOREVER NEAR The days we shared together Are the memories we hold so near All the happiness Steve gave us, Keeps him forever near. Nothing can heal. Memories are treasures, No one can steal. Some may forget Steve, Now that he is gone. But we will remember, No matter how long. 5 Death is a heartache, Rachel Seppanen: slf io, Co-Chairperson 11 12; Youth and Government 10. Secretary 11. The L’Anse High School had a visit from a band called The Edge. The band, from Tampa Bay, FL, will always be remembered. The band rocked in the school for V 2 hours. The band says when they party, they party without drugs and alcohol. The band also said Believe in Jesus Christ, Son of God, sent to give us Eternal Happi- ness.' Michelle Jedra was serenaded with a song from the band’s drummer. The song was ‘I’ve Been In Love Before'. Some of the students said some words after the concert. Was that great and no one even got in trouble,” replied Cindy Rehn. Roger Gransell commented, “I thought they were really impressive.” The band was asked what they would say to be remem- bered. Dave said, “Flies don’t need runways.” Jeff said, Monkey fell out of the tree, because it was dead.” The band also put on a skit of ZZ TOP. They pulled Mr. Mattson out to be a guitar- ist. They held a game show starring Mr. Meleen, Dianne Ross and Jay Johnson. I heard it through the I love Rock and Roll, grapevine. So you want to be a manager?? Senior Sub Sale Senior Class Trip In '88, many new trails were blazed, but this time we took the old many-times-traveled trail and went to Great America and the Milwaukee County Zoo for the '88 class trip. Many tender moments were shared by all. From the death defying turns of the Demon to the cool spashes of the White Water Rampage, the park pleasured us with its many sights. The Zoo ohhhed and ahhhed us with the many different unique and exotic animals. Over- all, the trip proved to be fun and exciting, except for the long, hot, and miserable bus ride. Come on in!!
