Boosting spirit at LHS and smiling even as the snow falls and the team loses is hard work! Not always a respected position, cheerleaders nevertheless represent a high school by wear- ing the Purple and White with dignity. Cheerleading in- volves hours of arduous practice and teamwork. The night performances can often be embarrass- ing (oops!) but they put their best foot forward. Varsity participated in the first annual Stereo 98 Cheerleading Competition at the Cop- per Country Mall. A pompom routine to “Eye of the Tiger” and mounts and cheers did not get the girls into the semi-finals but might have begun a tradition for L'Anse’s cheer- leaders of the future.
