Numerous awards and scholarships were announced, including the Pam Selden Mem- orial. a new scholarship. The first winner was Becky Clisch. Damon and Lorena gave their addresses and the senior chorus presented their slides and music. Finally, diplomas were handed out and an ending and a beginning in our lives had arrived. 88 68 90 o 92 93 94 95 VARSITY: Standing, left to right: Coach Bugni. M. Lanctot. B. Selden. C. Sholandcr. S. But even the fresh ideas of rookie coaches Lee and Lupiow weren’t enough to lead the young team to victory. The J.V.'s, who were mainly freshmen, were beaten by nearly everyone. However, they romped all over Baraga. All in all. not a bad season. 100 101 The Varsity Hornettes completed the season with an eleven and nine record. The girls put on a good show in the districts where they defeated Hancock 51-34 and later Ontonagon 45- 34. They went on to the regionals where they were overtaken 24-52 by a stronger St. Ignace team. The Hornettes will lose five mighty seniors next year: Becky Clisch. Susie Daust. Rose McDonald. Patty Miron, and Tammy Pirhonen. Each of these girls contributed in dif- ferent ways to this years success and all will be missed. Coach Seavoy is looking forward to the next season, however, and expects that the JV s. who move up to the varsity, will be able to do the job. Final victors were the sophomores, who won a tough game against an injury plagued faculty team. Next year it will be different, however. The sophomores will be varsity players, and they can't play intramural ball. 19 AFTERWORD: This was my last year as yearbook advisor. Time moves on, one's interests change, and when too many conflicts arise- something must go. But not without a few regrets. Regrets, in part, because I'll miss working with all the nuts who join a yearbook staff. Awful good nuts though. The kind who put in a lot of hours after school, after classes, after work, and some after June 8th. The kind who put up with my short fuse and disorganization. The kind that don't ask for special recognition, yet deserve it in full measure. So, to Puffa especially, and to the other seniors on the staff, thank you. I think years from now you will be able to remember with pride the job you did, and your classmates will be able to remember their year because of it. To Don, Amy, and Jim, and to the rest of the staff- thank you. Very much. Look on the bright side. Next year, all year, you get to do it again; selling ads, taking orders, shooting pictures and developing them, laying out and proofing the pages, all on your own time. Thanks, also, to the area businessmen who support us In addition to their taxes and everything else they get hit for, many find it possible to purchase ads for as little as $10 and up to $75 To Paul and Keith, the Professionals In Photography of Houghton, thanks. Thanks for the little things like three trips to L'Anse to try to shoot a senior class portrait, for the permanent loan of valuable equipment, and for never loosing your cool despite our best efforts. Thanks, too, for the big things. Thanks to John Roberts, company representative, who came when called and who realized he could stay away when not needed. Finally, to anyone who helped during the four years I was advisor, or for that matter, simply put up with my way of doing things; you also have my sincere thanks.
