Various seniors were selected to play parts in a simulated trial. Defendant Ron Heikkinen was found “guilty as charged for reckless driving by a jury of six seniors. Julia Meteer was the Defense Attorney, and Mike Rogge was the successful Prosecuting Attorney in the case. Everyone at the courthouse, especially Judge Konstenious, was very helpful in explaining the trial processes to us. It was a very educational morning. Tea And Girl's This year the Senior Girl’s Tea and the Father—Son Banquet were both held at the American Legion Building. This year there was a total of 91 Honor Students from L'Anse High, 33 from the Elementary School and 9 from Laird. This year's address was given by Mr. Robert Skuggen, editor of the Mining Journal, and was enjoyed by all. The parade of students was led by Sara Magnuson, Valedictorian and Valerie Hulkonen, Salutatorian. Band Scholar—Cecelia Wentela and Choir Scholar—Kathy Magnuson were also Honored.
