Blom. We had a very successful football season this year, completing the season with five wins and two losses. Our season started on August 30, at Munising, in a non-conference game. We were defeated in this game oy a score of 14 to 13. But we picked up our first victory the following Friday on the home field against Ontonagon, 21 to 12. The next game against Houghton was a very tight game. Both teams were scoreless in the first three quarters, with Houghton breaking away to score in the beginning of the fourth period. Bill Herrala ran the kickoff back 75 yards to score, and to tie the ball game. L'Anse scored on a brilliant pass play with only 32 seconds remaining in the game to win 12 to 6. At Lake Linden next week we defeated the Wiz Kids by a score of 19 to 13 in a game that saw the lead change hands several times. The following week we traveled to Crystal Falls and went down to defeat at the hands of the Trojans, 49to 25. Arch-rival Baraga was our next opponent, and at the final gun, the score was L'Anse 13, Baraga 6. October 10 was the date of the championship game with Hancock, the game began in L'Anse. The rain had come down steadily for two days before the game, but after splashing through calisthenics, the Hornets easily defeated the Bulldogs by the score 25 to 12.
