ITEM I. We, the Class of 1958, being of sound mind and body, and of extremely generous nature do hereby bequeath and give to the incumbent Class of 1959, our dazzling white bulletin board, originally designed and erected by Mr. Scroggins and the Senior boys. Along with the bulletin board we leave our green sheep-painted sign which says, Tell all the friends hello, and Tay's jokes from the Saturday Evening Post. ITEM II. We leave our collection of FFA plaques to the Sophomores -- who won most of them anyway. In addition, we leave our car washes, our cake sales, our PTA Room-Count Prizes, and the privilege of winning all charity drives, Qfor example, March of Dimesj, to said Sophomores. ITEM Ill. To the Freshman Class we so humbly give our ivy that has flourished with loving Senior care to go with the shelf they made for it. We also challenge them to keep alive the romance between Mrs, Martin and Mr. Scroggins. ITEM IV. To the entire high school we leave Mrs. Martin's yellow junk bag, this time packed with all the unsigned blue-slips, coke bottles, misplaced books, old book reports, lost play scripts, pencils, fountain pen tops, broken erasers, and candy and gum wrappers with which they have so abundantly fur- nished our room. ITEM V. All of the rest and residue of our estate is left as follows: LOIS FRANKE leaves her study habits to another Uhland scholar, Kenneth Schnautz, her jump rope in P.E. Class to Pauline Schneider, and her glass menagerie to the one-act play cast. H. J. Blue SCHNAUTZ leaves his land l quotej Gcod-looks, basketball feats, the Sophomore girls, and his title of Mr, K.H. S. to Coach's other pet, Kenneth Miller. In addition, he would like to designate all his C's in Speech as going to Charles Lancaster, and his bubble gum to be divided equally be- tween Miss Kretzmeier and Mrs. Frazier. He also leaves the care of his little sister to Gary Gold, who won't mind at all. t ,Our Miss K. H. S., FRAN William Carroll STRAWN, leaves her dates with Mousey to Barbara jones, the annual to Ken and Mary Frances, her scho- lastic honors to Helen Dabelgott, and her sweet, demure personality to Shirley Holder, who is even-tempered also. BILLY Get back into your cage DEES leaves his love of baseball to Ken Dorman, his book reports to Judy Qwho read them in' the first placej, his blind dates to Curtis, who likes out-of-town girls, and his accumulation of blue slips to Windell Tyler, who wouldn't need them except that he loses all of his. Back to baseball, Billy leaves his skill at the game to Alex, Ramon, and Gary. Love letters from Germany is the gift which JULIA Think of your Secretary, now think of your wife BAUDER leaves to . . . let's see . . . shall we say Diane Fuchs? ln addition, she leaves her dirty jokes in Chemistry class to Mary Frances Schmeltekopf and Carvel's insults to Lillian Bowie. TOMMY Tammy ALLEN leaves the honor of having a date with the Miss K. H. S. at the banquet next year to Morris Schmeltekopf, and his choir seat at the First Baptist Church to Sammy Bauder. ln addition he leaves his perfectly groomed, black-curly hair to Mary Holmes Dudley. The Leading Lady of the Senior Class, DOLORES Amanda SCHMELTEKOPF, leaves her acting ability to Margaret Frazier, the make-up kit to Ken Dorman, her many love affairs to Judy Dees, her ability to flirt with the bus driver to jerilyne Busse and her seat by james Holt to anyone lucky enough to 59 get it. She leaves her athletic ability in basketball to her old bench-buddy, Nancy Word, in the hopes that Nancy will be able to find another to endure the pain and disappointments. A new member of our class, DAVE Casanova WEILS, leaves his way with the women to Cisco Castilleja, his technique of sweet-talking Mrs. Frazier to Wayne Bundick, his Bop to Bobby Nance, and his ability to say and do the wrong thing at the time to Edward Sledge, SUSIE Bridgett MENDEZ, The fairest of them all, leaves her typewriter and her 29 words to some poor sucker in next year's class. She leaves her seat in bookkeeping and her dates with out-of-town boys to Mary Holmes Dudley. The President of the Senior Class leaves his dependability, diplomacy, class spirit, and willingness to work to Windell Tyler. PETE Physia1 Wreck DRESSEN leaves his job as Mr. Scroggins right-hand man to Sammy Bauder, who would like to fill it, but probably never will. I-le leaves his immortal position as stage manager ini plays to Frank Ortunio, another hard-worker. Pete leaves his Ag. banquet speech to Johnny Moseley, who can give it next year, and his ability to imitate certain Kyle Characters to Curtis Lengefeld. As for his job as president of our class, the Seniors refuse to let him leave that to anyone, since we feel that no one else could ever take his place. He also leaves his brief case full of misspelled words to another champion speller and physial wreck, Ken Dorman. DOROTHY, The quiet one, WITTENBURG leaves her ability to get and hold a man to Barbara jones, her shorthand speed to Sleepy Sledge, and her ability to explain bookkeeping problems to boys like Dave Wells for Mary Wraniizky, who is always trying to explain herself out of something anyway. MILLS Let's get serious COX wills his football heroics to james Holt, his brand new Impala to johnny, Pee Wee, and Charles to tear down at the shop, and his ability to find ways of getting out of class to Alton Petrosky and Gehardt Schulle. He leaves his heartaches and theories on going steady to Ramon T enorio ....... and - wife. Our Queen of the basketball court LOUANN LANCASTER, leaves all her trophies, medals, and blue ribbons to Mary Wranitzky, and her drum major position in the band to Margaret Frazier. She leaves her notes in English Class to all the juniors -- who love to take notes anyway. She leaves those Prairie Lea boys',to Helen Dabelgott, and her love for Aggies to Diane Fuchs, who may wake up someday ........ . CARVEL Teacher's Pet BROOKS leaves the talent to make points with Mrs. Martin to Ramon Mendez and Tommy Garza, who are doing a pretty good job of it already. He also leaves his never-miss ability to know just when Coach plans a govemment test to Windell Tyler, and his book fines to the school board to build a new library. With a tearful good-bye, Carvel leaves his broken heart to Johnny Moseley, with this word of caution: Never fall for a flirt LOUISE blue-slip LANCASTER leaves the fun of being expelled from school to Nancy Word. Her Chemistry apron she wills to Margaret Haner, her quiet, subdued disposition to Patsy Simon, and her ability to run an office ..... right ..... to Mr. Frazier. just for the record, she bequeaths her romance with a man to Janice Franke. TAY Teddy Bear GUTTERY leaves his good grades to Armonda and Rigo, his jokes, his mental blocks and his speech The Relation of the Solar! System to the Solar Plexis to next year's speech class. A little regretfully, he leaves Dolores to the Aggies with the hope that t.hey'll have better luck, than he had. ' PATSY But, daddy, 1 was in school SITES leaves her constant babbling in English Class to i the Freshman Girls, and all her blind dates to Margie Castillo. Pat leaves her term paper in English, if she ever wrote one to begin with, to Edgar Haner, who lost his too. To keep the spirit of the Saturday night dances in Uhland alive, Patsy leaves her own spirit to her buddies, Kenneth and Alton. REX Marlon Brando WIEGAND hates to give up anything at all, but finally consented to leave a s portion of his acting ability fthe portion he won't need on Broadway and Hollywoodj to johnny Moseley, who's obviously next in line. His love for baseball goes to that good-looking Miller boy, his red cap to Joe Tenorio, and the mile to any gtg idiot fool enough to run it. Rex sadly relinquishes his dates after church to Morris and Curtis, and the old red truck for transportation. On the other hand, he gladly leaves Macbeth, bookkeeping, porch lights, and God's Tombstones to all other scholars and lovers. That takes care of the individual bequeaths. But along the line, we've picked up a few special requests which are written now: ITEM VI. Dolores and Roxie leave their giggles in their own private study hall to ldalia and Margie who always cut P.E. and giggle in the lounge, The K. C. C.'s, that exclusive group of Senior MEN leave a number of things. First, and foremost, How to sell a canoe in 3 easy lessons to Mr. Joe Brown, their unbuilt cabin to Mr. Zunker of San Marcos, and their memories of chicken judging trips Qincluding Stephenville, to Mr. Scroggins. On the other hand, the Exotics leave their slumber parties to the Dohns, their Marlon Brando movie thrills to any other group lucky enough to see him, and all the garlic consumed from Mexican food to the Bachelor Buttons. They leave KI-IS with just this one remark to all other girls: It is good to have girlfriends on' a dateless Saturday night. ' The Census Committee fPete, Carvel, Mills, and Dave -- mostly Pete and Carvel -- leave their ability to speak Spanish, the fifth period when they tabulated over and over again, and the recapulation sheets to the Freshman Class, who had to endure it all. W The Senior boys leave their Sunic Creeses, their haircuts, theirma-:ny dates, and the ability to disappear from 4th period study hall for the Junior boys to carry on. Q julia and Patsy leave their love letters and their twin mitty blouses to two other gg friends, Margaret Frazier and Barbara jones. Louise, Dolores, and Roxie bequeath to Mr. Raeke their love for .... shall we say .... individualism and cooperation on certain despised songs. But 1 from the entire mass of Senior Band Girls we leave a fortune in broken reeds, a jar of sticky valve oil, and a band without 5 right-hand assistants, and just 1 two thoughts concerning our crush on Mr. Raeke: It is better to have loved and lost, than never to have loved at all. Of all sad words of tongue and pen, The saddest are these: It might have been. To Mr. Hale the Chemistry Class wills all our enthusiasm, our desire to leam, and our unfailing attendance. He can keep his unsuccessful experiments fwhich usually ended with a bang anyway, and the horrid smell from hydrogen sulfide. The Seniors in Speech Class leave their organized collection of magazines and newspapers for extemp and debate material to next year's teams. And in addition, bequeath to Mr. Maddux the old stage curtains, with a thank-you for the new ones. The girls leave their one and only basketball trophy to Mr. Hale, who wanted it just as badly as we did. In addition, we bequeath that promised gold basketball to the energetic and enthusiastic Freshman girls with this encouraging note: State will be fu.n in '61. The Big Three -- Dolores, Roxie, and Mrs. Martin fso named by some Senior boys as Big, Bigger, and Biggestj, tearfully bequeath their noon and after school gossip and coke sessions, their calorie charts which have never been read, and the privilege of having more fun than any other trio in high school to next year's big three -- Ken, Kenneth, and Coach! As a special favor to Carvel and H. I., I, ROXIE HILL, give and bequeath to Judy Dees my position as img Leader since Sammy and james, just like the two Seniors, will call her that anyway, no matter what. To Barbara Jones, I leave my treasured locker at the East end of the hall, my position as student director for the remaining weeks of school, the headaches and jokes in bookkeeping class, and most importantly, the honor of writing the will for the Class of 1959. And so, you have it -- The Last Will and Testament of the Class of 1958. May these possessions and worldly goods enrich the school and your lives next year ...... and everafter.
