Page Twenty raduation, and then . . . When attending a school. one naturally looks forward to graduation. This is especially true in one's senior year. Involuntarily, my thoughts wander back to the Netherlands. to a little event in the life of a grade-school graduate. After graduation. Mary was to stay home about a year to help her mother. During her first morning at home. Mary washed the breakfast dishes and cleaned the kitchen and dining room. Then it was coffee time. When the coffee was gone, she suddenly began to cry. Wfhen her mother asked the reason for her sadness, Mary replied. I just washed the dishes. and now I have to start all over again. Yes. Mary was through school, but she was not through life. Graduation means another start, and more training. The cups. too, were not washed to be kept clean, but to do more service. This is especially true of our Reformed Bible Institute graduates. The school training is almost over, but we feel very keenly that another training still is to come in our service to our King. One thing we have learned while at school is the necessity of daily devotions. If we are faithful in this exercise, we will receive the richest blessings upon our work. YVe cannot with words express how precious those devotional periods have become to us. God speaks to us through His YVord, and in prayer we have fellow- ship with Him in the name of Christ Jesus. How good it is to feel God's presence around us and the Holy Spirit dwelling within us. It lifts us out of the everyday worries and cares, strengthens us on our way. fills us with assurance, and gives us a peace the world can neither provide nor take away. Yes, the graduates are going to have a new start. We will miss the Reformed Bible Institute, which has given us so many wonderful times. We leave with regret, but we also look forward to the future. If we stay in close relationship to God, it will result in the right relationship to our neighbors, and ultimately, it will be to the glory of God our Maker. DCRMITORY COUNCIL Mica M , ' . s ' ' ' QL. to RQ Lena Bulthuis, jo Ann Kuiper, Katie Brouwer, house mother Marian Mlybenga, Nancy Chapel, klennie Stryker, Ida Noordmans May We know what goes on at council meetings? It can easily be asked because a dormitory council is new to all of us here. We are so thankful for an increased enrollment and are happy to have more resident girls this winter than ever before: however, it became apparent that one housemother could not assume general management and also be as helpful to the individual as she desired. The situation was remedied when President lValters appointed six dormitorians with whom and through whom the housemother can Work. The council meets once a week in the interest of the group. They seek to maintain and raise the spiritual emphasis in our dormitories: they suggest plans for social activitiesg they make suggestions which they feel will work toward happier. more harmonious relationships in our adopted home. Thus we seek to glorify God also in our dwelling together. We find it is ever as the Psalmist said. Behold how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity. Psalm 133: l. How good and pleasant is the sigh!
