L. deFrancesco (1901-1967) . . . seventh president of Kutztown State College . . . affectionately called Dr. D . . . was director of art education, 1939-1959, gaining the art edu- cation department a national reputation . . . also taught foreign languages . . . devoted 44 years to education . . . achieved prominence as artist, author, editor, linguist . . . attended West Chester State Normal School, University of Pennsylvania, Har- vard and New York University . . . also studied at Pennsylvania State University and Columbia University . . . was awarded an honorary doctor of laws degree from Albright College . . . wrote two books.
