It is guiding or drawing out of the student a desire for knowledge. At KSC, the Education Department attempts to fulfill this purpose by introducing the prospective teacher to current philosophies and new trends in education. This year saw the addition of three new members to the foreign language faculty — Dr. Welsh, French ond Spanish; Dr. Coulter, French and Spanish; and Mrs. Memming, German. With the new omphoses on foreign language, as of September, 1961, every student regardless of curriculum will be required to fake at least one or two years of a foreign language. This instruction will be greatly facilitated by the newly opened language laboratory which is housed in Room 138 of Old Main. 23
