Assemblies Of the many fine assemblies during the past year, the great Glenn Miller Orchestra, under the direction of Ray McKinley, proved the most popular. The program consisted of new arrangements and the standards — Pennsylvania 6-5000, String of Pearls, In the Mood —all identified with the Glenn Miller Orchestra. The women of the college were intro- duced to the new spring fashions, from bridal gowns to swimsuits, at the annual Hess Brothers' Fashion Show. Other assemblies featured the Warren Boys Choir, the college Drama Club’s pre- sentation of A Phoenix Too Frequent, and Mr. John Rothermel’s lecture on Russia. Evening Performances The fine afternoon and evening perform- ances were centered around the areas of music, dance, and drama. The names of Marjorie Mitchell and the piano, Joseph Gifford and the dance, and Players Inc. and Shakespeare will be indelibly impressed in our minds. The Players Inc. this year pre- sented two performances of Macbeth, one in the afternoon for the area high schools and one in the evening for the college students. The famous Baltimore Symphony Orches- tra, Peter Adler conducting, struggled through a snowstorm to present some of the world's greatest classical music. Tchai- kowsky's Symphony No. 5, the last number on the program, received tremendous applause. February 10, I960.
