Novomber 19. 1959. An inobrioted sorvant. o centurion, and a bereaved wifo gother togothor in a tomb in the Drama Club's presentation of A Phoenix Too Froquont. Thanksgiving Dinner and Dance Turkey in all its culinary splendor graced the Thanksgiving board. Flickering candles added to the festive atmosphere. With heads bowed, each expressed gratitude in his own way for the blessings of the past year. The sound of swirling gowns and the scent of flowers filling the air followed the elaborate repast. Silvery decorations pro- vided a romantic background, and the soft music made the couples feel as though they could have danced all night. November 21. 1959. Homecoming This year’s Homecoming Day was ushered in by a cold rain which failed fo dampen the spectator's spirits or halt the scheduled festivities entirely. Carole Sholly, Home- coming queen, and her attendents, Eleanor Hale and Betty Heintzelman, were intro- duced to guests and alumni at the noon luncheon in the Georgian Dining Room. Simultaneously, Tau Kappa members held their annual reunion in the Private Dining Room. Then, despite the heavy downfall, many Kutztown spectators went out to see their October 31. 1959. Tho Homecoming court tmiles prottily for tho Comoro. Left to right: Betty Lou Hointxlcmon. ottondant; Corol Sholly. queon; Eloonor Hole, ottondont. team slide to 0-0 stalemate in the football game with Mansfield. Disappointment seemed to be the order of the day: the half-time proceedings were cancelled. Pre- game activities had been completed, how- ever, and the Junior class added another feather to its cap when its float won first prize. The other Homecoming activities were the crowning of the queen at the tea, the all-college revue presentation of A Con- necticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court, and the Halloween Dance sponsored by the Junior class. Octobor 31. 1959. Tho Halloween Donco brought o close to o full Homecoming Day.

The year's most colorful and impressive event was the inauguration of Dr. Italo de Francesco as the seventh president of Kubztown State College. State and college officials throughout Pennsylvania converged on the campus November 21, 1959 to wit- ness the ceremony. The solemn academic procession, the stirring anthem by the choir, the actual installation ceremony, Dr. Charles H. Boehm's speech and the new The Inauguration president's inaugural address combined to make the day a memorable one for all who attended. The festivities culminated in a luncheon in the Georgian Dining Room, featuring a symposium on The Tasks of the College in Our Time.
