rHE STAFF of the 1950 KEYSTONIA wishes to dedicate this edition of the yearbook to the students of our college. We feel that the student body IS the college and on it depends, to a very large measure, whatever success the college enjoys. Without students who aspire for success scholastically, athletically, and socially, our college could not maintain its enviable reputation among the teachers colleges of our State. Without students who have high ideals of conduct, loyalty, and co- operation, our college could not have realized so worthy a past or could not face so promising a future. If this loyalty and co-operation, these high ideals of scholarship and conduct are carried over into the teaching profession, we can look with con- fidence to the future of education and citizenship in our great Commonwealth. in memoriam rHE faculty and student body note with deep regret the pass- ing of Dr. James S. Grim who died at the Reading Hospital on May 18, 1949. Dr. Grim joined the faculty of his Alma Mater in 1899 and served for a period of forty-five years. He was head of the depart- ment of science. In 1942 he retired after forty-three years of serv- ice, but he was called back for an additional two years of service during the war emergency. Dr. Grim was the author of a book on birds and another on agriculture which are used in many high schools. He loved the out- doors and was a specialist on trees. His friendship and spirit of service will always remain in the minds and hearts of those who know him. rHE faculty and student body note with regret the passing of Mr. Roy Reimert on January 7, 1950. Mr. Reimert served the college in the capacity of watchman and maintenance worker for a period of twenty-six years. His cheerful smile and friendly greeting will long be remem- bered by those who knew him. our alma mater Where stately trees are bending, Where Nature's glories shine, And loveliness unending In beauty rare combine, There rise the Kutztown towers, And there the College stands, The well-spring of our powers— The shrine our love commands.
