A Message to the Class of 1958: W You are the first to graduate since the space age was ushered in through the launching of man-made satellites. This age will most certainly provide unexcelled challenges and opportunities for the educated person. It also implies the development and accept- ance of changes in mankind's way of life. The knowledge gained in high school will be fundamental to a successful life in this new f'space age. In spite of many changes that will take place in your life-time, I hope you will remain adamant in maintaining certain fundamental principles as unalterable. Among these I would have you place love of God and the necessity of Divine Guidanceg truthg integrity? justiceg family and home first 5 democratic philosophy which holds that the dignity and worth of the individual is paramount, and that governmental insti- tutions are instigated among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed. - My sincere congratulations and personal good wishes go with each of you. May you find success and happiness in life. My expectations for each of you are great as you move forward to ever new and widening horizons. Your progress in life will always be my concern. Quad QQ! A Message to the Class of 1958: Today's challenge to you is to seek knowledge. Knowledge is elusive, it must be pursued. But it is always there, waiting. The process of learn- ing cannot end in the classroom, it must con- tinue through life. Your high school has given you the tools with which to pursue knowledge. It depends on you to use these tools to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary in training for everyday living. The past years have meant much in helping you to learn the basic principles of truth, honesty, and loyalty which must be learned to complement your education and even your very lives. Education is not just a process by which sub- ject matter is to be mastered, but rather various activities by which you receive training for living. Success in life depends a great deal on how well you get along with people. Your ability to get along with others usually has direct relation to your degree of adjustment to life. Through success the utmost goal of life, happiness, is achieved. Success in the future depends on getting the most out of your high school training. To you the Class of 1958, I extend best wishes for happiness and success. at PhB., M. Ed. The groundwork of your life's education has been laid, and I challenge you to continue to build upon it. Through further learning you will be able to live a rich and useful life. Dedicate your lives to strengthen the ideals of our demo- cratic society and to make certain the freedoms you now enjoy are preserved for those who follow you. In this age of Sputniks and Explor- ers, it is you who must supply the leadership and guidance for future generations. Establish for yourselves high ideals and goals in life and strive with determination to attain them. Respect the rights of others and be sincere in your actions toward your fellow man. Main- tain the Faith, and with His guidance, life for you will be profitable. I extend to all of you my very best wishes for future happiness and success with hope that no matter what problems you encounter, you will meet them with courage and steadfastness.
