A MESSAGE TO THE CLASS OF 1954: Many of you have anxiously been look- ing forward to your senior year and to your graduation which completes your for- mal high school education. There is a very close analogy between the sea captain who embarks upon a voy- age without destination or compass and the student who embarks upon adult life with no considered goals in mind. Such a student is,moving without chart and com- pass toward no consciously defined port or goal. Goals and values are essential to intelligent and purposeful living. l trust that your high school training will have given you a foundation of experi- ences which will help you make wise de- cisions as you journey along life's way in attaining your goals. Your high school has tried to give you an opportunity for the development toward a well rounded life of effective service and enriched by the wise use of leisure time. To you, the Class of 1954, I extend my best wishes and may your graduation mark the beginning of a happy and suc- cessful life. L. MERLIN STAUFFER A MESSAGE TO THE CLASS OF 1954: The year 1954 is, and always will re- main, an important year in your life. Grad- uation marks the commencement of a new life for you. I challenge you to make it a successful and happy one. While you were students in the Kutztown Schools it was our obligation to inculcate into your hearts and minds those moral and spiritual values so important in our American heritage. We have done our best in this task. lt is now your task to carry forth these ideals and use them to make life worthwhile. May you find success and happiness along the road of life. Travel this road with confidence and high expectancy. You will meet success if you play fair with your fel- low man, have faith in God, and remember that people, not obiects or causes, are the most important things you will meet along the way. My personal good wishes for health and happiness go with you. Come back to visit with us whenever possible. We will always remain interested in you and be happy to greet you. PAUL C. DUNKELBERGERE Supervising Principal of Schools l l
