We the Semors of 55 can now look back over twelve years of pleasant school memormes We entered Kunkle Local School on September 7 1943, as a class of e1ghteen members R1chard Bllhn s Lowell Huston Ph1ll1p Johnson Duane Landon Le Roy Stantz R1c ard Traxler Hal Whetro Vonna Armbruster Phylhs Borton Joyce Eberly lla Hulbert Paul1ne Kos1er Mar aret Kr1ll and Carol Lutz Dur1ng our f1rst ear, we galned Clarence Star Merna Short and E1leen Poorman Throug out grade school our teach ers were Mrs Stelma Myer Q11 Mrs Edna Stauffer Q21 Mrs Ethel St1pe 13 41, Mrs Dana Oberlm Q5 61, and Mrs Thomas G1lcher Q7 81 We gamed and lost members untml when we started our Freshman year 1n 1951 our class cons1sted of fourteen members Vonna Armbruster, Bonn1e Connolly Joyce Eberly, Leroy Gorsuch Marl1n Gr1mm John Hardy, Glor1a Hugg lla Hulbert Carol Lutz, Robert M1ller Raymond P1tts, E1leen Poorman Lew1s Stantz and Clarence Stark Our b1ggest event of th1s year was when we were 1n1t1ated by the Sophomores and then could really feel that we were part of Kunkle H1gh Mrs Anderson our adv1sor 1n our Freshman year rendered great ass1stance to us 1n our f1rst money mak1ng plan, that of selllng saltwater taffy We started our Sophomore year w1th Mrs Fern All1son as our Adv1sor Our f1rst bmg undertalung of th1s year was 1n1t1at1ng the Freshmen, when we fmnally got our turn to show someone what we had gone through Later, that fall we chose our class r1ngs Our bmggest thrlll came the next spr1ng when our r1ngs arrlved When we became Jumors we learned we were 1n for a lot of work We sold candy on Tuesday and Thursday noons and ran the concess1on stand at ballgames We sponsored a hayr1de and skatmg part1es as fund ra1s1ng pro colors red and gray and our class motto Today's Youth 15 Tomorrow s Hope Mr Graebner our adv1sor d1rected our Class Play Peter Beware Then came our b1ggest Job of the year g1v1ng a banquet 1n honor of the Sen1ors Before we knew It we were Semors We soon learned that our last year 1n school was a buy one We chose our off1cers w1th the follow1ng result Presmdent Leroy Gorsuch V1ce Pres1dent Glor1a Hugg Secretary Carol Lutz Treasurer Joyce Eberly and Reporter E1leen Poorman Mr Welch our adv1sor has g1ven excellent co operat1on and adv1ce 1n all our projects th1s year Our 11st of act1v1t1es 1ncluded sellmg ma azmne subscr1pt1ons, havmg our Sen1or plctures taken and sell1ng Annua ads Also, lncluded ln our work for th1s year was prmtmg the Echo and prepar1ng the '55 Annual We also got courageous and tr1ed our luck at someth1ng new 1n the way of a fund ratsmg 1dea A Box Soc1al As Semors we attended Government Day and Career Day Mr Kolar d1rected us 1n our second successful sta e product1on ' Here Comes Charl1e' On Apr1l 15 we attended the we 1 planned formal banquet gwen 1n our honor by the .Tumors On Aprll 2.1 w sponsored the second annual Mother Daughter Banquet We were all exc1ted when May 3rd fmally came and we left Kunkle for our 5 day Sen1or Tr1p to New York C1ty The year was swmftly comlng to a close On May 15 we had our Baccalaureate Servmces The long awa1ted day came on Ma 20 our Commencement Day, when we fmally rece1ved our d1plomas, e goal of our 12. years here at Kunkle Local School 11 Q I I . smmagssw as The Semors of 55 held a reumon on June 1, 1965 1n Toledo Walbr1dge Park Naturally we were curious to know what had transp1red s1nce we had graduated in May of 1955 We found that the former Bonn1e Connolly IS now Mrs Carl McClellan She is the mother of 3 year old tw1ns a boy and g1rl She and Carl are l1v1ng near Edon on an 80 acre farm They have Just completed the bu1ld1ng of a modern ranch style home Carol and Ronn1e Armbruster are l1v1ng on the outsk1rts of Bryan 1n a beaut1 ful ranch type home They have 3 ch1ldren, Z boys and a g1rl ROHHIC 13 now v1ce pres1dent of the 50' Corporat1on 1n Bryan and Ronnie has a Chevrolet Corvette to drive to work For pleasure dr1v1ng, they have a L1ncoln convert1ble Vonna Armbruster IS now Mrs Ted Stoner She and Ted have forsaken the1r house tra1ler and are l1v1ng 1n a custom des1gned ranch style home 1n West Un1ty Ted 13 the co owner of the huge truck1ng f1rm Stoner Truck1ng, Inc whrch has 1ts ma1n off1ces in West Un1ty with Vonna as the head secretary E1leen Poorman has marr1ed a successful farmer and IS l1v1ng on a large farm near Wauseon Oh1o She her husband, and Z ch1ldren are plann1ng a vacat1on 1n Califorma this summer S1nce nearly all the work 15 done by push buttons they w1ll have no trouble 1n gett1ng someone to take over during the 3 weeks they w1ll be gone lla Hulbert met her handsome husband at a skat1ng r1nk 1n the west a few years ago Whlle on her vacat1on She gave up her career as an Air L1ne Hostess a short time ago when they were marr1ed They are l1v1ng on his ranch 1n W om1n Joyci Eberly became secretary to the boss of a b1g f1rm 1n Toledo some years ago but gave up her career after she married her boss's handsome son Glor1a Hugg IS engaged to some nice fellow who 1S 1n the A1r Force He gave up the idea of an A1r Force career when he met her We don't yet know h1s name but we th1nk he 15 a former classmate They expect to be marr1ed soon Robert M1ller famous auto race driver has Just won the lnd1anapo11s 500 m1le race He 1sn't married yet and 1sn't expected to be for some time but of course he has many female fans He rece1ves several truckloads of fan ma1l per year, most of it from ho eful women Ray P1tts 15 marr1ed to 1 a Sull1van and has 2 sets of tw1ns He has been cleaning up 1n the stock markets and has a Chrysler convert1ble to prove it They are l1v1ng near Stryker at the present t1me Le Roy Gorsuch is enga ed to a very n1ce g1rl and is expected to be marr1ed as soon as he rece1ves his 1scharge from the A1r Force He had made a career of the A1r Force unt1l he met h1s dream g1rl John Hardy IS the b1 wheel of a large concern 1n PennSy1VaH1a and has several convert1bles an a couple of yachts to h1s name He has a beaut1ful Wlfe and 3 ch1ldren The convertible they came r1d1ng up 1n was custom built for John and has everythmg from telev1s1on to telephones 1n 1t Marl1n Gr1mm is marr1ed and has 3 Chlldren He and h1s fam1ly are l1v1ng on a beaut1fully landscaped farm near West Un1ty Marl1n has a pretty easy 1116 for a farmer all his Work is done by push buttons From the sw1tchboard in the house he can do all the plow1ng, etc Just by push1ng the r1ght buttons Lewis Stantz has been marr1ed for some t1me He and his lovely w1fe have a set of tr1plets but her daily chores have been made easy Lew1s has installed a ush button washer and dryer comb1nat1on, d1Sh washer, etc, demonstrat1ng 1s talent for plumb1ng He has a rather large bus1ness of h1s own With these changes transp1r1ng 1n ten years, what will the future years br1ng 'P 10 , I . r . , . . . 1 - -I . ' J . 0 , n . l D V ' - . . . They have Z children and are living in a beautiful home- in Ottawa Hills. .
