aaa .Nwfory Lookrng back upon our school days the Class of 54 recalls many pleasant memorres On September 8 1942 the followrng students entered Kunkle Local Schools Nancy Armbruster Janrce Eberly Patsy Elsten Clarence Fenton B1ll Gorrell, Thelma Hendrrcks Ned Hubbell, Dorothy Hulbert, Duane Hum barger D1x1e Huston Rrchard Runnels Adabelle Shtnabarger Lewrs Stantz Evelyn Steffes Dorrs Sterner Paulrne Theobald Darlene Tressler Walter Traxler and Gerald Wyrrck Mrss Faye Englrsh was our frrst teacher Throughout grade school our rnstructors were Mrs Stelma Myers, Mrs Ethel Strpe Mrs Dorothy Reynolds Mrs Dana Oberlrn and Mr Thomas Grlcher They provrded us w1th the basrc fundamentals of our educatron The Freshman class consrsted of these students Nancy Armbruster Naomr Day Barbara Mrller Nrna Kosrer Evelyn Steffes, Adabelle Shrnabarger Carl Steffes, Calvrn Kunkle Janrce Eberly B1llGorrell Darlene Tressler, Paulrne Theobald Ioe Leskow Walter Traxler Thelma Hendrrcks Gerald Wyr1ck Wrllzs Keller Dorls Sterner B111 Mclntosh Dorothy Hulbert Durrng our h1gh school days we lost Thelma Hendrrcks and Nrna Kosrer and gazned Ray Wrne Our Freshman mrtratron gave us a fellmg of belongrng to K H S At that trme we enjoyed such delrcacres as ftre water and cold oatmeal In our varrous cos tumes and wrth slrghtly red faces we performed for our superrors Thus we became full fledged Freshmen Mrs Mann was our advrsor that year We concentrated on our lessons to rnsure us of a promotron rnto the tenth grade As Sophomores under the supervrsron of M1ss McCorm1ck, our frrst actxvrty was to 1n1t1ate the Fresh men and grve them a sample of what we had gone through Our brggest thr1ll of the year was rn choosmg our class rrngs an event whrch we d long looked forward to We enjoyed several class partres and also took a freld tr1p to Toledo Our Iunror year was one 1n whrch we became very rnvolved rn our work Each week on Tuesday and Thursday noons we sold candy and at the basketball games we ran the concessron stand We learned to be conservatrve by not allowrng any popcorn to go to waste when a sack happened to overflow Our class advrsor Mr Wrchmanowskr was constantly help1ng us wrth our problems and grvrng advrce He drrected us rn our class play No Boys Allowed Thrs, our frrst experrence rn stage actrng was found to be en joyable Then came the event toward whrch we had been workrng throughout the year the Banquet we gave rn honor of the Senrors We found rt a brg, but enjoyable job As Iunrors we chose our class flower the Amerrcan Beauty Rose our colors, maroon and srlver and our motto There rs beauty rn l1fe rf you look for rt And then almost before we realrzed rt, we were entermg our last year of hrgh school We soon learned that the trtle of Senror carrred work and responsrbrlrty Mr Wrchmanowskr was agam faced wrth the task of seemg our class through another year Our salesmanshrp abrlrty was shown as we went from door to door sellrng magazrnes Shortly after thrs we were sellrng sponsored pages for our yearbook the Echo Then we found ourselves srttmg before the cameras whrle we had our Senror prctures taken If we were drsappornted rt was only because our prctures looked just lrke us On a freld trrp to Defrance tt was our prrvrlege to see the Presrdent of the Unrted States Dwrght D Ersenhower Thts was one of the brggest thrrlls we had rn our school lrfe Then we med our hand at cookrng as we spent a Saturday mornrng makrng donuts for our donut sale Thrs berng a successful one we decrded to take on a brgger job and so we sponsored the flrst Mother Daughter Banquet The gurls cooked the boys served and everyone helped wrth the drshes On Aprrl 9 we presented our Senror Class play June Fever another successful stage productron On Aprrl 23 we were guests at the Iumor Senror Banquet We were grven an evenrng of pleasures whrch wrll long be remembered As senrors we took part rn Government Day at Montpelxer and learned the procedures of local government Frnally we reached the goal of twelve years, the recervxng of our drplomas at our Commencement Exercrses On May 23 we left for a week rn Washmgton D C and New York Thus our school days of troubles and trrumphs were completed Complrments of WINZLER STAMPING CO , Montpelrer, Ohto . , . 1 1 1 1 - 1 1 I 1 1 I 1 1 1 1 1 1 I I I ' 1 . 1 1 , . 1 . , . 1 1 1 I 9 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 I 1 1 1 ' 1 1 1 - 1 , . , . . , 1 , . 1 1 o 1 .
