C LASS HISTORY In May 1944 f1fteen students f1n1shed the1r grade school educatlon graduatmg were a group of mne boys Alan Moore Rex Radabaugh Rayrnond Fenton Paul Stantz Raymond Oxender Ned Nlsley Marl1n Cron1nger Ralph Showers and Kenneth Rolhns S1x gxrls Donna Alpaugh Leola Wyr1ck Dorothy Warner Mary Anna Robb Betty Kr11l and Mar1an Oxender We then began our h1gh school career w1th fourteen Freshmen havmg lost Betty Kr1ll dur1ng the surnmer Durxng that year we were all kept busy trymg to become accustomed to h1gh school ways The same fourteen started 1n September 1945 of the second year of h1gh school but durmg that year we lost Dorothy Warner and Ralph In the fall of 1946 as the Class of 1948 consxstmg of twelve numbers moved forward all except Raymond Fenton who moved to P1oneer contlnued Our great desxre was fmally realxzed At last we becarne dxgmfmed Semors To our dxsappomtment we lost another classmate Kenneth Roll1ns near the end of the Senior year Our last h1gh school battle was won and we fmally graduated on May 19 1948 We are no longer members of Kunkle I-hgh School but we re the new ' Alumxu leavmg behxnd us all the pleasant memor1es of our h1gh school days and go1ng forward to challenge the dlffxcultles of the world wxth a smlle and a prayer Showers leaving a total of twelve to enter our third year of high school. CLASS PROPHECY Marlin is a bachelor And a farmer on the side But when the right girl comes along He ll take her for his bride Leola is in college She wants to be a nurse She says she will not marry Her career must come first Rex now has his ten piece orchestra And playing through spring and fall And his vocalist is none other Than his classmate Donna Alpaugh Marian says she 11 be a hermit But just you wait and see She ll end up getting married And raising a family As we look out on the farm We llf1nd Rayrnond in his barn His wife will greet us with a smile Mary a wife will be someday But not exactly yet Just wait until the springtime comes And she will gladly accept Ned is 1n the Navy Where he longed to be He is the captain of his ship That sails the billowing sea Donna will start a little late But she ll eventually find her mate She ll be happy we are sure And for all her faults she ll find a cure Alan just got married And is still on his honeymoon We don t know when they will get back But don t expect them too soon Paul of all our number Was hazed in the magic ball But we see him now as a minister, With a word of help for all I I I , . . We played an eighteen game basketball schedule this year. Sherwood, Ney and Gilboa were new opponents. In basketball we won seven games and lost twelve this season. The reserve basketball team scored eight victories in eighteen games to out-win the varsity by one game. Our baseball squad had a three won - three lost record in the league.
