Za: fiiaid Foreword For all of us graduates, these have been twelve long years of study, of work, and of careful guidance. These have been happy years, too. But now they have come to an abrupt ending. Upon graduation we shall have reached the climax of our school years and shall thenceforth become a part of all the duties, problems, and responsibilities of adulthood. Our preparation has been the classroom, the library, the gymnas- ium, the shop, and the friendly association of teachers and classmates. And now we go forth confident that we can cope with the many challenges, public and private, that will face us as men and women. Above all, we shall always strive to remain good Christians and loy- al Americans. 954 Nineteenth Edition Published By The Kulprnont Areo Joint High School Kulprnont, Pennsylvonio Y NNER ... :J 1 ..f f f :exp --. ,1-H, . : 17'-Xi,.4' ' - ,!Q,,. gif ' s..4-.-Aeuf x mx. CLASS SONG lTune of With a Song in My Heart l by JEAN ARDAN To cur classmates so dear, To the friends we are likely to miss, To the proms we hold dear, And the dances we will reminisce, Now our future's near, lt's here in our hands, And now we are standing here, so We look now through the years, To remember those times we have spent, To the joys and the fears, To those heartaches and all they have meant, And now our dear Graduation is here, Farewell to our joys and fears, so We will bid fond adieu, To the teachers, the classmates, and you Though cur dear Kulpmont High, Will stay locked in our hearts through the years Though we leave tonight, You will still remain, with the love in our hearts for you. CLASS COLORS- - - CLASS MOTTO- - - CLASS FLOWER- - - RECITATION iwofds by LUCILLE PONATOSKIJ Happy memories of the school life that we once knew, Like apparitions, come drifting into our view. Behold! The excitement of the football games that have passed. The inspiring concerts, the proms that went all too fast. With these things in mind and deep sorrow in the hearts of all. We will miss Kulpmont High, when school opens next fall. But these, our treasures, will remain forever, Soon, The years will hurry by, and we-whose paths were once laid side by side, Will find chance and change have borne us far and wide. But the ties you have woven will keep us as one, Forever in homage to loyalty-till life's victory is won. And now we can go into the world's problem school, With our heads held high, free from future fear, As you have taught us with understanding and love, Alma Mater, Dear. ----------------------BLUE AND GOLD THE PAST IS DIMQ THE FUTURE BRlGHT --------------------,-------RED ROSE PAGE NINE MICHAEL APICHELLA ' Athlete, inferesterl in one girl only, noiu'l1ulant In manner, Illflflllllffllill' and uuaffeeterl. JOSEPH MEISNER, top ranking iet pilot, deftly maneuvers the plane to a perfect landing as two energetic station attendants, TONY PUPO and TEDDY WAGNER, rush to our service. While the plane is given a thorough inspection, our famous scientist, STANLEY CHESNEY, briefly comments on his Sukian Theory and in a matter of minutes we are preparing for another take off-destination-Anywhere, U. S. A. Upon arriving at Earlie Airport, named in honor of multi-millionaire, EARL FRYE, we are met by FRANCIS BERGONIA, a reporter for the Dark Night. FRANCIS WOJCIECHOWSKI, her employer and manager of the newspaper, wants a report on the lives of the graduates of the class of 54. NELSON SMITH, owner of the latest jet automobile company, sent us his Smithillac, so that our ride to the hotel may be a pleasant one. When we passed through the city of Anywhere, our chauffer, FRANK SUSKIE, showed us the many places of interest. On our left is the HaIl of Music founded by a great musical genius, LUCILLE PONATOSKI. The ad- vertisements tell us that her prize pupil, MARY SWITLISKI, will make her musical debut this week. Many of her dazzling gowns were designed by our creative designer, MONA GOOD- MAN, with the expert aid of chief-fashion-consultant, RITA MURDOCK. The chauffeur now directs our attention to the massive stone building at our right, the People's Hospital School of Nursing, founded by THERESA OLBRISH. It boasts as a few of its angels of mercy, PATSY NEMETH, MILLIE RIDILLA, JEAN LAZARSKI and ELEANOR MIRIELLO. Our progress is halted by the appearance of a red light and as we stop in front of the hospital, we see two of the state's well-known X-Ray Technicians, BARBARA SCALET and LILLIAN BATOR, bidding farewell to their fellow associate, HENRlETTA LONG, who is leaving to marry her childhood sweetheart. She will live next to the country estates of JEANETTE SCICCHITANO, POLLY POLINKO, MARYANN WILLARD and ROSIE OWCZAREK, who re- cently married their high school sweethearts in a quadruple wedding ceremony. We see that ROBERT CUPSTA, director of the hospital, is another witness to this touching scene. The light changes in our favor and once more as we continue on our way, we see police officer, PAUL WHITE, doing a commendable job in directing the city traffic. But, at long last, we arrive at the 54 Hotel, named in honor of our class by the owner, JOHN KRULESKI, and each member is given a warm welcome as he is escorted to his room. A few minutes pass when the telephone operator, JEAN LOUISE ZEGARSKI, informs LEE PATRICK that his dancing partners, ROSE MARIE STELLAR and JOAN KOONES, have urgent business to discuss with him. After this interruption we were served lunch prepared by the PAGE TWENTY -+- As The Curtain Opens -+- T E eeeee GX Oi kip it K Q Q ii famous chef, JOE AVELLINO, which was under the careful supervision of two well-known cat- erers, GLORIA WAGNER and ELIZABETH MIRARCHI. After lunch we visited the famous night club of CHARLES BEDNARCZYK and WILLIAM EDMONDSON and saw two Marines, LEO SNARSKI and LEONARD HUXTA, talking to the stars of the show. The Master of Ceremonies, BILLIE COSSARI, tells us that the show is about to commence and he introduces the brilliant singing duo of ROSE MARIE VENTILLI and ELEANOR POSCA, who head the review of stars. Their performance is greeted by tremendous applause and now into the limelight skates the new skating sensation, ROSE ANN GONZALES. The show is brought to a close with a startling dagger throwing act performed by EDWARD ZARKOSKI and his fearless assistant, MARIE MELNICK. A surprising additional feature is the fashion show under the direction of JOSEPH IDIORI ZLOCKI which brings forth some of the most famous models, RITA SINSHACK, HELEN WATRAL and AGNES KROVITSKI, wear- ing gowns of a stunning nature. Showing what the best dressed men of 64 will be wearing are MICHAEL APICHELLA, TONY BRESSI and STANLEY METRO. As we are making our exit, we glance into the cocktail lounge and see MYRON GILL, LEONARD GOLDA and DANIEL SIMCHOCK, discussing the forthcoming campaign of RAY LITMIN for Mayor of Planet X. Two well-known baseball coaches, ANGELO and WILLIAM FEUDALE, also join in the conference. We are then handed our chapeaus by the well-liked hat-check girls, THERESA BINDOS and KITTY NESTICO. We enter the SmithilIac and turn on the Vicdeo, a new type radio invented by VIC- TOR MIRARCHI. A twist of the dial tunes in our favorite disc-jockey, JOHN BAKSI. As we listen to the top songs of 64, the program is interrupted for a news flash reported by ace commentator, JOHN POPONIAK, and we learn that the Comets, a football team coached by GEORGE WILLIAMS, has won the Meteor Bowl Game. The rest of the ride was uninterrupted and we arrived at the gym to watch the girls' Championship Basketball Game. Greeting us with a handful of tickets was MARIE DOOLEY. We entered the gymnasium in time to hear the announcer, MICHAEL VOLOSHIN, giving the starting line up. Two of our former classmates, JEAN ARDEN and ROSE KOVACH, are the seasor1's high scorers on the challenging team. Preceding the game, referee, JOE PODCHAYSKI, gives captains, JEANETTE PROCOPIO and JOANIE WARHOLIC, their final instructions. The game terminated in a victory for the chall- engers, which highly pleased their coach, RITA DULSKI. Our iourney being at an end, we board our jet and begin our return trip. It is then that we see the first women Space Patrollers, BARBARA WISHNESKI, MARTHA LASKOSKI and JEANETTE WHITE, checking to see that everything is secure. Starego, J. Baksi. Lg ' ,Ii -' .5 .' 'III it PAGE THIRTY-FIVE Senior Class Play GLAMOU R BOY Naturally there were repercussions to Chauncey's reported success. Nonsense replied Miss Prescott, his English teacher .... To fellow students and Georgia Belle, he was just Peewee. Quiet, mouse-like. The kind nobody pays much attention to. Awfully funny at times, and a little tragic, was the way Miss Davis, school secretary, summed it up. That's Chauncey. Yes. That was Chauncey, the undersized, under-nourished, under-loved kid with a soul that reflected every hurt. Actually, he hadn't wanted to write that autobiography in the first place. His sensitive being shriveled at the thought of exposing his colorless existence to the laughter and ridicule of the whole class. But Miss Prescott had been adamant-either write it or fail the entire course! And so, Chauncey did what anybody might have done: he reached in to his dream world and became-on paper-the unsung hero, the self-appointed success, the GLAMOUR BOY of the school! Among other things, he pictures himself as a national hero, having saved Georgia Belle from drowning, while Flash and the other boys look on helplessly. Though the dream is rudely shattered, and Chauncey finds himself in some hot water, the Little Guy comes through in a Big Way! CAST OF CHARACTERS Mr. Garfield .... Miss Davis ....
