Because his wife has an aggressive nature, and because she believes in devoting all of her waking hours to the rearing of her four children, she refuses to leave them and go on the world cruise that was suggested by them. Mary and Bob complain continuously about being tied to their mother's apron strings, but it is Dick, a senior in medical school who finally starts the fireworks when he tells them he wants to get married before finishing school. Emily scouts the idea, but Dick persists and Hope, several years out of college and a social worker, defends Dick and rebels outwardly to her mother. She blames her for the failure of her ro- mance with Sanford Welles, a young lawyer. Emily is shocked and having no weapon for defense appeals to Richard, and resorts to tears. After a big argument with the family, the parents decide to take the trip. Delphie, the maid is left in charge of the family. Hope is left with the financial responsibility of the family. When th.ey leave things really begin to happen. Mary begins to date Miriam Walker's cousin, Jack, who is a sophomore in college. On the first day Bob and Buzz Daily buy a car, they run into the rear end of a brand new Lincoln owned by Mrs. Forirester, and are charged with driving without a license as well as debt for damage to t e car. In the midst of all their troubles Dick and Jenny get married and move in with them. When Jack refuses to bring Mary home from a college dance the same night she refuses to go, and turns to her old faithful boyfriend, Randy. There are many problems to solve, but by the time Richard and Emily return, everything is straightened out. Hope resumes her romance with Sanford, Emily en- joyed the trip, and Dick and Jenny have enough money to start on their own. All in all, everything turns out just perfect. 40 Junior Class Play THATS MY BOY characters: Left to Right ' Stage Manager ------ A Fred Murdock Prompter ------- Rita Malkoski Prompter ---- - Leah McElwee Mrs. Baxter Csittingj - - Jeanette Retallack Miss Annie Baxter istandingl - Patricia Nemeth Mr. Baxter Csittingb - - - - Steve Pisarz Leslie Tremaine Csittingb - - - - Leo Noble Olga, maid Cstandingj - - Mary Jean Yancheski Alvin, Butler Cstandingj - Donald Narcavage Kay Cullen fsittingj - - Lorraine Bolick Chuck Le Roy fstandingb - Tony Toter Mrs. Lois Keene Csittingj - Lois Mikulak Stage Manager fstandingj - Henry Yarish Virginia Keene fsittingj - - Margaret Pancher Claire Wilson Csittingb - - - Evelyn Flunt Lauren Griffith Cstandingj - - Jack Gencavage Nina Hamilton Csittingj - Christine Fantanarosa - Director Csittingb - - - - - Mr. Patrick Alden Saunders Cstandingb - - - John Mudry Stage Manager Cstandingj - - Leo Fulginiti STORY When the play begins, Palmer Baxter is celebrating his tenth wedding anniversary. He and Evelyn, his wife, have lived far beyond their means and are broke. So Palmer writes Aunt Annie to contribute something toward Junior's Education . Instead of sending the money, Aunt Annie decides to come east to see her nine-year old great- nephew. Palmer and his wife are in a panic. They have no son! At this juncture, a ragged newsboy aged fourteen, climbs the balcony to their second-floor apartment to get away from the police. He has run away from an orphans' home and he begs the Baxters to protect him. Palmer has an idea! Then he decides that here is their boy. In exchange for protection and a home he agrees to be nine years old and their boy. The Aunt arrives and the spectacle of this tough though lovable boy of the streets dressed in youthful clothes and trying to be a gentleman is screarningly funny. Mat- ters become very complicated when Chuck LeRoy, a pal of The Kid turns up. A novel twist of plot reveals the past of the Baxter's son and Chuck. A necklace is miss- ing. The Kid thinks Chuck has stolen it and Chuck is convinced The Kid has. Actually neither is the thief, and they uncover the culprit. Finally The Kid iinds a home and parents, and he reforms his pal Chuck, who has dishonest tendencies. Chuck also finds a home with Aunt Annie. .41 Majorettes and Cheerleaders CENTER SEMI-CIRCLE, left to right: Rose Owczareck, Frances Rutkowski, Jean Lazarski, Ernestine Carabini, Theresa Coroniti, Lillian Fernandez, Lorraine Bolick.
