TRACK The 1966-67 track team consisted of only five boys: Dave Johnson, John Werbelow, Chuck Dees, Gary Pollington and Larry Johnson. During the spring months these boys attended three practice meets--two at Gildford and one at Havre. At these meets the KHS track team, though always the smallest team attending, proved their abilities by caputuring high honors. The high point in the taam's season came on May 5th, the day of the District Track Meet in Havre. All five boys earned the right to participate in the Divisional meet and with their totaled pointed they brought home the third place trophy. Their placings went as follows: Gary Pollington: 1-javlin throw: 4-high jump: 4-shot-put Gary, in capturing his first place in the district record in this event. javlin throw, set a new Dave Johnson: l-100 yd, dash: l- 220 yd. dash, 1-440 yd. dash. Dave tied the old record in the 440, Chuck Dees: 2-pole vault John Werbelow: 4- pole vault, 4- javelin throw. Larry Johnson: 5- discus throw, Then, at the Divisional meet in Great Falls team kept up its outstanding work. Dave Johnson place in the 100 yard dash, 4th place in the 220 2nd place in the 440 yard dash. Gary Pollington on May 13, our captured Sth yard dash, and took 2nd place in the javlin throw and tied for 5th place in the high jump. Both Dave and Gary earned the privilege of going STATE to state , We are very proud of our whole strack team, especially the CWD boys who represented us at the state meet. They did a fab- ulous job of showing what a small school can do against rough competition Dave Johnson placed fifth in the 440 and 220 at the State Meet Gary Pollington plaved seventh in the iaviin throw.
