TO THE CLASS OF '58 When asked to write a message for the 1958 edi- tion ofthe Lair it occurred to me that this will be my parting message. Three years is a relatively short time in the his- tory of mankind, but not in a lifetime. Many events were planned and executed. There was understand- ing and unfortunately misunderstanding. There were unfounded criticisms and constructive criticisms. The moments to be retained should be those that were pleasant. In a small schoolot community we find ourselves very close to everyone's problems whether of a per- sonal or impersonal nature. A spirit of friendliness and interest in one another creates lasting memories. Unpleasant memories are formed when this interest is designed to degrade someone's character. We have a duty to our fellow man, whether in school or the community, to practice good citizenship. Good cit- izenship is a seven day per week challenge for all of us. We owe it to the Class of 1958 to work together through trials and times of happiness to fulfill our purposes in life. Sincerely , D. M. Hartwick Superintendent
