ON WINGS OF SONG The Vocal Department of Columbus High was under the direction of two instructors this year: Miss Pearl M. Schultz had charge the first semester in addition to Junior High and grade school music and Mr Wm Miller resumed charge of the high school music the second semester on his return from service as a major in the Army Air Forces In addition to the regularly scheduled classes Mr Miller has organ ized a girls glee club a boys glee club and a mixed octet all of which received Superior ratings at the District MUSIC Contest Others receiving Superior were the Girls Octet and Richard Illian, soloist This department sponsored its traditional Spring Concert in May BOYS OUARTET The boys quartet was organized this year by Miss Schultz during the first semester The boys have appeared in many programs during the year With the ex ception of Norls Lus che the boys are Jun iors so will no doubt continue their activit A Wcwen C Rcnner D Cattau M Lips M Brown D Putnam J Johnson J Jones 19S next year GIRLS OCTET The girls octet has been organized since these girls were freshmen All four years they have participated in school and civic programs and in the district con tests receiving Superior the latter three years They have been very popular cn tertairers All the girls are seniors so this years performances have been the climax to their working together N Lusche T Renner H Smith B Hadley 47 y . . !
