The fighting Dr coverer under their new coach D L Pudge Glenn opened their 1945 grid season September 21 by trouncrng the York eleven on the home gridiron by a 19 0 score Scores came in the opening ouarter the econd and again rn the third tanza Sparking the KHS backs were Pro yor e and 'Vhcek with Luchsrnger a standout in the ine On September 28 Co lumbus traveled to Kear ney to lose to a good Bearcat team 7 0 on a rainy windswept field Throughout the entire game it was mp and tuck vyrth a stubborn KHS eleyen fighting ey ery in h The second home game vyas on October 5 against Grand I land Columbus suffered a 32 0 defeat due to a big hard charg ing line and a strong run ning attack The Colum bus team played yy ell but threatened only once On Oct 12 the fight ing Drscoverers notched tvxo touchdovnns against a highly-rated Hastings team. but lost 34-12 on the enemy field.
