THE KOSTANG PUBLISHED BY THE SENIOR CLASS OF f KOUTS HIGH SCHOOL VOLUME XV 1961 We, the Annual Staff of the Class of '61, are proud to present the 1961 edition of the Kostang. We have worked hard and long so that in the years to come, you could reminisce all the joys and sorrows of this year by merely turning the pages of this book. We realize the importance of our education and are grateful to have had the opportunity to serve when called upon. We sincerely hope you will accept this book as our token of appreciation to those who have helped us through the last twelve years. KOSTANG STAFF Ted Wienke - Co-Editors - Carlyn Cannon DEDICATION We, the senior class, wish to pay tribute to one who has greatly improved our school during her time of service. She has not only helped the girls of our class to learn skills that will allow them to be good homemakers, but she has also improved the lunchroom for all the seniors, faculty, and underclassmen. For spending many long and tedious hours of planning and supervising, the Class of '61 dedi- cates our yearbook to Mrs. Mary Drazer. We’ve studied hard, we’ve had to work We’ve taken it all in stride And now we know that we must go On our way from ole' Kouts High. FT As Juniors, we presented the play entitled Ram- shackle Inn. The story begins when Miss Belinda Pryde, Wanda Daumer and Lydia Gingerich, with the assistance of her business manager, Commodore Lucius Towser, Jerry Lippert; decides to spend her life savings on a hotel. When they arrive, they find that the hotel is rather run down. During the course of the play. Miss Pryde aids in capturing a ring of boot- leggers whose headquarters are in the hotel basement. On October 20, the Senior Class presented The Man Who Came To Dinner. The Stanleys, Joan Taylor and Jerry Lippert, anxiously awaited a visit from Sheridan Whiteside, Tom Redelman. The atmosphere changed, however, when Mr. Whiteside fell and injured his hip. From then on, he literally took over the house. He stayed long enough to break up a romance between his secretary, Joyce Tucker, and a reporter, Ted Wienke. Then just as he is about to leave, he again falls and the trouble starts over again.
