Thirty Years of Leadership Come to a Close After thirty years of dedication to the youth of Kokomo and Howard County, Kokomo High School's first Dean of Girls, Miss Estella Pearce, has retired. Over the years Miss Pearce's door was open to any- one who needed her help. Hundreds of girls took ad- vantage of this opportunity and came in contact with one of the community's greatest persons. As Dean of Girls, her main job was to understand and to help solve the problems of the girls of Kl-IS. Actually, she did so much more. As organizer of the Girls' League, she created and acted as adviser of such activities as the Girls' League Play, the Autumn Prom, Apple for a Teacher Day, the Father-Daughter Ramp, and the Mother-Daughter Reception. Miss Pearce gained the respect of innumerable people throughout the community during her years of unselfish service by always being completely fair and honest in her iudgment and decisions. Because she considered each person's problem separately, students respected her even after being disciplined. Several factors account for her wonderful person- ality and success. Being sensitive to people and their expressions, Miss Pearce was able to sense a situation before it actually happened. l-ler ready vvit and sense of humor often turned a crisis into a funny situation. Duffy, Miss Pearce's terrier, occupies much of her free time. A smile and helping hand greet students seeking advice. Every Monday morning Miss Pearce receives a floating rose. tes.. ,-url! i 'NYNN x ff , Miss Estella Pearce relaxes at home by reading a good book
