The Hi-Y and Y-Teens club members were responsible for preparing the after-game dances where we gathered to talk over the preceding contests. Companionship and Growth Together Here our spirits defeated? XVere we low? XYere we haunted by those routine blues? NYC always found a remedy in a party, a dance, a ball game, or just a gathering with the gang at the drugstore after school. We found that association with others gave spice to our life. We were surprised to hear our thoughts expressed in words by someone else, or to learn that others experienced our problems. VVe discovered that by knowing others we learned to know ourselves. Preparation for the Future The cadet training program offered Wilitia Briggs a chance to learn a few things from her XX'iishington School second graders. Our foresight for the future was indicated by various episodes in the halls of KHSY-a student standing thoughtfully by his locker, mental- ly reviewing' the evening' of homework before himg the crowded counsel- or's office at the commencement of each semesterg or a senior studying' the scholarship bulletin hoard. We all worked and planned together. As freshmen, our senior year stood foremost in our mindsg as seniors, our freshmen year in college or that new job proved to be that all important goal. The sustained drive within us to realize that ffoal made the year one of our busiest. 23 Page Kirsten Brandt, Exchange Student from Denmark, and -lerrv Neal, our Exchange Student to Germany, point to their European homes, as they compare their experiences.
