The Junior Varsity football squad shovved outstanding prom- ise in the 1972 season. Coaches Fred Weber and Evan Simmons, along with assistant Dan Elkins, propelled the Kings to a fine season. The year was highlighted by a 15'O svvamping of the cross- tovvn rival Yuma Criminals, and an 8-7 thriller versus previously unbeaten Blythe. Top Row: J. Jones, B. Fox, S. Baker, M. Wolfe, and B. Jaramillo. Kofa's varsity really had quite a successful season this year. The Kings lost all their away games but sparked at home. The team really ripped in a 20-O contest against cross town rival Yuma High. This gave Kofa three straight victories over Yuma in this years mud bowl. The team was led by team captains, Junior Bob Guthrie, and Senior Bill Fox. One of the most interesting facts about this years team was the fact that Scott Baker a Ju- nior was O.B. Senior Mike Howel was hurt in the first game at Valley High and missed the rest of the season. Mike was also a team captain be- fore being hurt.
