Hannon, R. Sanchez. FTA Every y ea r the Future Teach- ers of America tries to acquaint its members with the challenges and opportunities for the teaching profession. Three of Kofa's FTA officers attended an officer's workshop in Gilbert, Arizona during Oct- ober. At this workshop they received ideas for fund raising projects and leadership skills. The club broke d ow n into groups a n d visited different schools, this helped the students know which field of teaching would interest them. FBLA FBLA, was a club for stu- dents who were looking forward to careers in business. The chief objective was to develop strong, aggressive leadership so that stu- dents might participate more ef- fectively in t h e business and community life of which they are a part. In order to turn out highly qualified business p eople, the club attempted to strengthen the confidence of the individual and his work, and to encourage mem- bers to develop character and leadership by working together in the home, the business, and the community. The club also attempted to c r e a t e a better understanding of business and develop an active interest in the members, the c h o i c e of an occupation. ANCHOR CLUB Anchor Club, an outstanding service club at Kofa is sponsored by the Pilots Club International in Yuma. Anchor Club was involved in many services for Yuma, some of which included helping at the annual bicycle check, selling pro- grams at all h o m e games and helping w i t h the Pilot Club booth at the Yuma County Fair. They g a v e Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets to local needy families along with clothing. The club held a costume party at Halloween and exchanged gifts with secret sisters at Christmas. The girls sponsored a student to AIPA Workshop, for journalists. The year came to an end at a luncheon for b o t h Kofa and Yuma sponsored by the Pilots Club. The outstanding member 'VlrS.
