Foreign students absorb new culture 1--- Hi! I'm Doerthe Peter. :ll 'nail IW Docrthe races to capture first place in the girls' annual Turkey Trot event. 96 Doerthe Peter, Kofa I-Iigh School's foreign exchange student from Germany, offered these thoughts on her year with us: I am glad that I Was able to spend a year in your school-a young, lively, exciting school, offering such a great number of activities and clubs that it Was some- times hard for me to decide Where to go and what to do. Yet the school program was only one part of my stay here in Yuma. I feel that it was even more important talking to you, the students, to learn something about your feeling and thanking and to relate to you some impressions of my country and the young people there. You have helped me a lot, perhaps Without realizing it yourselves, by your friendliness, your interest, your curiosity and by allowing me to share your life. Iwant to thank everybody in your school, teachers and stu- dents, for my Wonderful year at Kofaf' Foreign exchange student Doerthe Peter discusses our American heritage with foster sister Becky Watson.
