I'1e rose to the rank of'Chief'Sonar Technician in eight years and entered Officer Can- didate School in 1957. After graduation, Ensign Moore was ordered to the heavy cruiser USS MACON QCA-1323 for duty as the operations intel- ligence division officer. From 1959 to 1961, he served as CIC officer on the world's first Cuided Missile Frigate, the USS DEWEY CDLG-141. In the fall of 1961, LCDR Moore, then a Lieutenant, was ordered as Command- ing Officer ofthe Escort Vessel USS FARMINGTON QPCE-8949. In September of 1963, he reported to the Commander Key West Test and Evaluation De- tachment ofthe Operational Test and Evaluation Force for duty as Sonar Systems Evaluations Of- ficer. In july 1966, LCDR Moore detached and re- ported to his present assignment. Lieutenant Commander Moore is married to the former Vivian Lorraine Burnham of Miami, Florida. N A V 1 C A T O R ,I- X . . 'll-. CDR WILLIAM T. CRAWFORD USN Commanding Officer Commander William T. Crawford was born in Lawrencehurg. Tennessee, on Iune 7, 1931. Upon graduation from the LIS. Naval Academy in Iune, 1954, he was assigned to the USS BE.-ILE CDDE 4715 where he served as the Anti-Submarine Warfare Of- ficer. Subsequently he was assigned as Squadron Communica' tions Officer on the STAFF of Commander Destroyer-Squadron TWENTY-EIGHT. In january, 1958, he was ordered to command USS SACANIORE CATA 2089. In September of 1959, he was enrolled as a student in the Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey, California. from which he received a Masters Degree in Operations Analysis. He was subsequently assigned to duty as Executive Officer. USS LESTER CDE-10225. This was followed by a tour as an in structor in the Naval Science Department, U.S. Naval Academy. He then attended the U.S. Naval WVar College as a student in the command and staff course. Immediately prior to coming to KOELSCH, he served as Executive Oflicer. USS LAYVRENFE CDDG 43. Commander CRAWFORD is married to the former Marv Elim- beth Going of Middleton, R.I. They have three children. Susan Burke, Sarah Elizabeth and Thomas Wfall. and reside at 102 Lnion Street, Porthsmouth, R.I. 4
