.1-- -'K's oe vom M 'X Semor Class Hlstory It has been just three years smce we, the Class of 28 first passed through the massxye doorways and into the awe nnsplrlng halls of Knoxyllle Hxgh School For a few days we wandered about feeling luke pygmles ln a giants castle lnhablted bv those mnghtv upper classmen Howeyer we soon found them to be kindly creatures and wlth their and we our selves grew taller and took up our 'lbode wuh them lhey called us Freshmen but nn reallty yve were Sophomores being the hlst dass to enter lxnoxvtlle High 'school as such Since we were so capable and so excelled all former Sopho more classes nt was decided that we should organtze and elect ol'l1eers as the juntor and Senior classes had done Although thus helped us to feel bigger we were not able to engage ln any speclal actnvntv that year How proud we were when we 'lgam entered school nn the fall of 26 a unlors but alas' the unlor Class of the precedlng year had stepped up too and agaln we must contend with those dxgnlhed Seniors But lake the others they soon came down to earth and we were consoled by the fact that we too were upperclassmen In the early part of the year the class was organued with four othcers and three directors with Mr Harrv C Watkln and Mlss Anne Kent as faculty adylsors 'Ihough our number had dlYI'lll'll'illCll the class tle grew stronger On anuarv 28 1927 we successfully presented as our mann actlvnty tl class play Ihe Vyhole Iowns Ialklng A unnors we gaye our loyal support to all the new nn stltutxons ln High School Our pennies swelled the bank deposits and our representatlyes helped to nnaugurate the Student Council Ihough some of our number caught ln the snares of Latln and Algebra had fallen by the waysxde we entered nn the fall of 27 wnth a class of four hundred and thnrty At la t we had reached that coyeted place Sentordom , and nt was our turn to be dngnlhed blt ts so characteristic of all Hugh School students we neyer lost that K H S spmt of unselhsh ness and cooperation Vie entered our Semor vear with eager hands and wtllnng hearts and through It all dnd our best to be noble examples to those behmd us and worthy successors of the classes gone on before Our organlzatton as a Senlor Class was completed promptly with Eulyth Plckell President Betty Lynn Hoskins Vlce Presldent Katherme Bolt, Secretary Robert Clements 'Ireasurer and juanlta Maxey Mary Wlll VVebb VV1llnam Rule Florence broyes and jessle Dempster, Directors wlth these student representatives and wlth C L Northcutt and Miss Evelyn Hazen our capable faculty advtsors we embarked upon our glorious career Ihe hrst functton of the directors was to select the class colors and December 8 was celebrated as Senior Day wxth the wearing of the Green and bold December 10 which marked the arrlval of the class rlngs was another memorable day ln our htstory 'Ihe first actlvxty of the class was the Senior vaudeyllle 28 ovland whxch proyed a glowlng success not only fillmg Us wlth enthusiasm but also hllmg our emptv treasury wxth much needed funds From tlme to time we cooperated yvlth the yarnous organuatxons of the school ln their actlyltxes such as the Student Council Circus and the publlcatton of the Honor Society Handbook and took our places as leaders everywhere Among our number are out standmg athletes capable executxyes kxlled journalnsrs aceomplnshed musncnans and dram 'msts as well as Intellectual students The year has sped by on the wlngs of work and pleasure and the dav of our graduatlon IS at hand lt ls with fond regrets that we the Class of 28 pass for the last tune across the threshold of dear old K H S passnng from our hxgh school llfe Into the broader world beyond which calls from eyery slde and which recely es wtth uplnftmg hands the ambmous ldeallstlc and trained youth of our ranks Rum Mules Ilan llutnrmn Parr 13 q'!X in f . l 1- Ll V- I wks' H-Hqvf Q -1 0 1 ' ,, r 1- - , X 1 .., ' L. .J -V f , ,, .4 ' V L. .
