2 mx llllllllflllll ZQ1 211 We the K' Staff of 53 dedicate this book in memory of Garold 'Pete' Rowland. 'Pete graduated from Central in 1927 and started teaching in Page County in 1928. In 1942 he retired to his farm for a year but due to the shortage of teachers during the war he re- turned to his chosen field at Knoxville. He assisted in boys athletics. 'Pete' started work with girl s basketball in 1948 and took his 1949 and 1951 teams to the State Tournament. He gave unseifishly of his time not only in sports but also in the educational field. He was a person of many fine qualities of which leadership and inspiration were outstanding,A man not only liked by the people with whom he worked and the student body, but also anyone who had an opportunity to meet and know him.
