'Pete graduated from Central in 1927 and started teaching in Page County in 1928. In 1942 he retired to his farm for a year but due to the shortage of teachers during the war he re- turned to his chosen field at Knoxville. He assisted in boys athletics. 'Pete' started work with girl s basketball in 1948 and took his 1949 and 1951 teams to the State Tournament. He gave unseifishly of his time not only in sports but also in the educational field. He was a person of many fine qualities of which leadership and inspiration were outstanding,A man not only liked by the people with whom he worked and the student body, but also anyone who had an opportunity to meet and know him. A combination of hard work and fun, by the members of the Annual Staff has brought about the production of this book. Some people wouldn't like to tramp all over selling advertising but the annual staff does willingly. They coura- geoulsly gave up their study halls and fgradesl to write copy and arrange lay Outs. Besides the mad rush to meet deadlines they made the Queens' Float and sponsored the Christmas party Winter Wonderland. To make extra money we sold cushions at football games and had several bakesales. As a re- ward for our hard work we took a trip in the Spring to Topeka, Kansas to visit the plant where our book was published. BACK ROW, Celia Harvey, Merna Anderson. Those in the club wore for their costumes sweat shirts and little beanies that they purchased especially for that purpose. After they got started they did a pretty good job during the last of the football season. But as time went on they began to die out. When the basket- ball season started they completely disappeared. The first game the club was at was the Homecoming game. They held up cards that they had fixed so the visiting team and their supporters could read the Hello Albia . This was done at some other home games too. Also they did little chants with motions added to give more emphasis. -H s ' - , K, O 39 Make with the music! Why S0 WO1'1'iCf1 gi1'1S? - l. l. As a money raising project they sold with the F. F.A. at two football games in the fall. Also in the fall the members enjoyed a hayride. Enjoyable too, but a little more on the business side they attended a District Meeting in Carlisle on Oct- ober 4. During the Thanksgiving and Christmas seasons the girls brought food and prepared baskets to give to the needy. On March 6 8: 7 two or three girls were elected by the members to attend the State Leadership Conference in Des Moines.
