They were coached by Jack Manuel an John Daugherty. For comparative purposes th team was definitely lacking in previous experi ence and was small. Thirty-eight boys completed the season twenty-eight having received major letters. T six seventh graders major awards were given This was the largest number ever earned b their class, therefore, an encouraging yea seemed to be in store. The team was without the services of Mik Grady and Ed Brown for most of the season While participating during scrimmage sessions Brown had an ankle broken, and Grady sutfere a broken collarbone. The seventh and eighth graders were un beaten in their three scheduled games, makin another first , as they had never been undefeate before.

The team scored a total of three wins, one tie, and four losses. Defensively the group was above average, while offensively it wasn't out- standing until the last few games that were played. John Hughes, Bill Moore, John McKay, and Charles Schideman represented Knoxville on the Little Six All Star second team. McKay led in the distance gained, while Schideman led in passing. Brian Davies, along with Jack Bailey, was designated with the honorable-men- tioned group, Brian being the leading scorer and receiver during the year. There were twenty-five winners of varsity football letters, with almost three-fifths of them coming back to K.H.S. next year. The most serious losses were Bill Hall, end, and Bill Moore, center. As a whole, however, the future looked good. Assistant Coach Lacy: Head Coach Gregory
