1958 Jfamecamdzg, Linda Pennington and Brian Davies. NIGHT OF KNIGHTS October 9, a perfect autumn day, marked the beginning of the 1958 Homecoming fes- tivities and the annual parade at 2:30 P.M. The K.H.S. band, which gave gay music and splendor to the parade, was followed by unique and breath-taking floats. Winning first place in the club division was the Dra- matics Club with their idea, Here's an Oscar to You, Knoxville , and the juniors won first in the class division with the entry, We Are Going to Bust through the Line . Preceding the Knoxville vs. Alexis foot- ball game that evening, the traditional pep rally was held around a blazing bonfire. Helping create a warm and joyous atmos- phere, the cheerleaders led cheers and started a spirited snake dance. When the game came to an end, however, many sad faces were seen, as Knoxville lost to Alexis, 13-0. Keeping in mind the chosen theme, Night of Knights , the seniors worked busily almost all of Friday, October 10, adding the finishing touches on the superbly decorated gym. Par- ents, alumni, friends, and students filled the ueen Sue Woolsey and King Tom Hoyme. Janet Larson and John Morris. gym to capacity that night to attend the pro- gram, which was well announced by Bill Moore. In the stunt show winners were the sophmore class with The Lamp Went Outn, the Dramatics Club version of The Lady's Knight , and Carolina Bordwell's accordian music. As the long-awaited moment finally ar- rived, the royal court made their grand entrance to the piano music of lVIrs. Harriet Huston. Crown bearers were Connie Manuel and Richard Mathers. The junior marshalls, Barb Johnson and Scott Bloom- field, preceded senior marshalls Bud Wood- ward and Jerry Nelson. Maids of honor and their escorts were Jan Larson, Linda Pen- nington, Brian Davies, and John Morris. Pat McCoy and Carol Peterson's attendants preceded them. Diana Coleman was the at- tendant for King Tom Hoyme and Queen Sue Woolsey, who were crowned by Miss Dolores Switzer and Mr. John Daugherty. The remainder of the evening was spent dancing to the music of Lyle Griffith. Con- cessions were in the school cafeteria. I5
