Senior Gfass 0 146613 Discussing plans for Home- officers: Clark Wise, presi- secretary -treasurer M r I M I Lt lf ld ad elzior G ass of 1953 We, the class of '53, have come to the end of four very memorable and event- ful years spent at KHS. As we think of our first year as underclassmen and Green Little Freshies , we remem- ber our initiation which made us full- -fledged citizens of KHS. After becom- ing adjusted to high school, we joined the various clubs, activities, and the newly formed band. Our class elected pony cheerleaders, and several of the boys took part in sports. Carol Ann Ferris, escorted by john Liston and at- tended by Norma England, was chosen first maid-of-honor in Homecoming ac- tivities. By our sophomore year, we had lost our emerald look and were becoming thoroughly acquainted with the school activities. lanis Swigert, our sophomore candidate for Homecoming queen, was chosen second maid-of-honor. Her es- cort was jamie Bjorkman, and her at- tendant was Erma Clay. Our stunt, Chorus Girl Mary , won first place at Homecoming. We entered our junior year with the much more grown-up feeling of upper- classmen. The first important and ex- citing thing we did was to select our class rings. Our candidate for queen was Mary Woolsey. Mary was chosen second maid-of-honor and was escorted by jim Bamp with Louise Shreves as her attendant. ln December, Miss Hase- meyer directed us in the presentation of Our Miss Brooks , a three-act com- edy. ln the spring, we gave the junior- Senior Prom at the Galesburg Club, carrying out the theme Up in Central Park. Last fall, we, the almighty seniors, entered the halls of KHS for our last year. After a lot of hard work and fun the gym was ready for our Homecoming. The decorations and program followed the Broadway theme. Sherry Bandall, our queen, was escorted by lamie Bjorkman and attended by ludy Block. Louise Shreves and Betty Kennelly were first and second maids-of-honor, respectively. Betty Martin, Carol Ann Ferris, and Barbara Faulkner were varsity cheer- leaders from our class. We had a suc- cessful year in sports, with the help of l5 lettermen. After presenting the senior play, at- tending the junior-Senior Prom, and enjoying our annual Skip Day and Class Day, we looked forward to Baccalaureate service and the com- mencement exercises in which the 46 members of our class received their diplomas.
