Under the tall white tree in the assembly room are pyramids of red, green, and gold packages ready for the Children's Party Il1Il1Ul'l'UW. As the tree lights glowed and the silvery, frostc-d ornaments sparkled, the harmonious voices of the Glee Club presented a lovely Yuletide program for Christmas Vespers. DECEMBER SIXTEENTH ll 'ln' Jo nsffr far C!7I'IIfIll:1.l' Vlllgv H731 Jo fzftfr cluftfrru flllgdil With saucer-like eyes and open mouths Hour tiny children watched the wondrous play unfold at the Christmas praty Santy Schwartz boominglv distributed gifts to everyone, and then- chocolate ice cream r fat, gingerbread men-sticky fingers-and exhausted, but ecstatically happy children, But the day was not yet over for all of us- Hearts at the County Farm heat faster and worn, tired eyes lightened as the College Girls skipped into their assembly room loudly and merrily singing jingle Bells. These young voices rekindled the Christmas spirits in the minds and souls of the forgotten boys and girls. lt is indeed more blessed to give than to receive. The long anticipated day had finally arrived, heralded by much interchange ofcorI'espiil1dellcC, ambiguous telegrams and general confusion. Bulging bags were labeled- the familiar click of heels on the stairs- clean, curled hair. Knox girls w ere olf for the Boston Common or Central Park- Christmas! 1lANUARY FDURTEENTH xi lzftfe rem-lc, .1 finff .tif.11'. One week of the infinite stretch between Christmas and Spring vacation has gone! All of a sudden, after lights out tonight, those burning the midnight bulbs over borrowed exam notes heard a harsh honking from our lawn by the lake. Cold-creamed faces were pressed against the widow-panes. Lo and behold! a green leep crazilv careening around the tennis court! :Ks its head lights penetrated the inkv night, we saw, with excitement mingled with definite relief, that myriads of puffy snowflakes were sinking to the ground. Our annual Carnival show would be possible after all -as for the leep, that's another story. Endless stacks of blue exam books with their mean little white blotters, the sound, of scratching pens, uncomfortable squirms in creaky desks, these, along with a sudden dearth of knowledge, announced that exam week was upon us!!! FEBRUARY FOURTEENTH ll 'lm it rlvf fully qf low, Ogrr that pant ,ririgizz-gf Kale-idoscopic tableaus of frosted panes, flashing blades, glittering lights, and sparkling eyes-Carnival! Friday night swiftly falls into pattern-a gracious queen in rich, crimson velvet and ermine regally mounting herice throne dazzling with rainbowed lights' chill air and twinkling starsfran iced pink bunny statue good enough to eat two hilarious charrwomen continually plurnmeting into snow banks dashing pirates and their demure ladies clicking over gleaming icefgraceful magical dancers. Then dancing in a pennant- hung room with men in ski socksf- polkas-group singing--so faded our first evening. FEBRUARY FIFTEENTH Saturday n1ght's formal dance came as the climax of our gala week-end. The sweet fragrance of corsages lifted from cellophaned wrappings--swishing dresses in a candy-caned assembly room-low lights and mellow music--a lingering good-night-Carnival has whirled by us in a flashing pageant and the hour- glass turns again.
