There were twenty eight of us then, and a more shy, frightened group would have been hard to find However, under the close surveilance of our class advisor, Mrs Butterfield, we adjusted to the new life and elected officers JoAnne McEwen became president, Shirley Congdon, vice president, Phyllis Chase, secretary, and Richard Pike, treasurer We had a few fudge sales that year so we had a little money in the treasury In September 1952, we came back to Knox and promplty became the Nwise Foolsu of the school By this tire, our class had diminished to eighteen in nu ber Although we longed for the return of our classmates,we could not mark time in the march toward our distant goal, graduation we continued our march with Mr Peters, class advisor, Robert Collison, president, Richard Pike, vice president, Janice Hatch, secretary, and Phyllis Chase, treasurer Our sole effort towards making more money Coutside of the always handy fudge sales, was the UOpen Housen held in March This showed off our two new departments, Shop and Homemak1ng,and included the Faculty vs Varsity basketball game When we came back to school as Juniors, we found that we had lost two more of our odginal classmates, but had gained three more Carmen and Mike Kilmer and Gus Backus After January exams Frank Aldous transferred from Hermon to make the twentieth member of our class we had one of the biggest thrills of our lives that year when we got our class rings we again held the WOpen Housen and also held a movie Class officers were president, Joyce Bullock, vice president, Phyllis Chase, secretary, Janice Hatch, and treasurer, Robert Collison Our class advisor was Coach Jerry Whalen September of l9Sh at last realizes our long cherished dream, for we are Seniors There are fifteen of us now we again picked Joyce Bullock as president, Phyllis Chase as vice president, Janice Hatch as secretary, and dilliam hcCarty as treasurer Coach Whalen still is our class advisor Our goal 1S to go to New York so to make this possible we shall hold movies and dances throughout the year and sell various articles. Although when we started as Freshmen, the road to graduation looked very long, now, when we look back, the road has been short after all Lasting memories of many thrilling games, office trips, scrapes that we have gotten in and out of, and the cheers that helped give the teams moral support, will remain with us much longer than the four years in which they happened Now, as a group, we are ready to go our separate ways and are hoping we shall often meet again Class Propheo HFrank Aldous gust won the Soo mile race at Indianapolis this year CThe UOldsn is sure running wild J' nBob Collison received his recognition as Knox Memorial's best referee CHe always liked the refs J' 'Gus Backus has his own television program, named 'Goofy Gus' UPhyll1s Chase, known as Liberace, the Second, just won her first baby grand on the program, 'Tickling the Ivories' N nJoyce Bullock Joined the Waves to catch up with a certain naval officer NJan1ce Hatch, a dramatic actre s, is starring in the film, 'The Bashful Blonde' H UJan1s Dcott, a pharmacist, in the new drugstore in Rus ell is kept busy making her new Upilln that causes one to use his brain during Fnglis ' HLeon uollinver, orce engaged to a fwne upstanding young man, won the t1+le of 'Old haid of l96S' H ULewana Matthews inherited a fortune from umpteenth step cousin, twice and a half removed, and is building her model home on top of 'Mount Marcy' HLowena Manning, is the new homemaking teacher at Russell until she finds a man with athletics as his profession N nReg1na Harmer is the world's best known beautician for dogs, cats, etc NJoAnn McEwen plays solo trumpet in the Harry James McEwen orchestra ' nCarol Caneron, the vivacious brunette, 1S in the chorus lineup at the Macomba from 8 to l, Monday through Friday, every week ' We hope that you have engaged this telephone conversation Je sure have A C . . . . . - . . . . . . . . . . . . .
