Bob Brooke Captain .fin The Knox High School Cross Country Team ended its third season of competition with nine wins without a defeat. The runners on this team have the honor of being members of one of the few fif not the only, underfeated varsity team in the history of the school. Bob Brooke, number one runner and captain of the team, finished first in every meet and had the reputation of being one of the best runners in the state. He was followed to the tape by Don Webb, an outstanding sophomore, who finished second to Brooke in all of the meets. Hard working Ralph Johnson, Hal Green and Harold Banks rounded out the first five. Other members of the team were Fred Howard, Jim Drews, Franklin Alan, Larry Chizum, Elam Clemons, Dan Cole, and manager Ed Bailey. The team will greatly miss the service of two graduating seniors, Bob Brooke and Ralph Johnson, but with nine of the first eleven runners being Freshmen and Sophomores prospects look good for next year. The Knox High School Band under the direction of Kenneth Hughes is will known through out the State for its performances in contest and concert work. This re- cognition has made it possible for us to take several outstanding trips in the past year. In '54' we part- ticipated in both the District and State Contests in which we received a Superior rating. In the spring the band took a trip to Canada, playing a concert in the Capitol Theater in Chatham, Ontario. On the way home the band DRUM MAJORETTE: Carole Tyl stopped off at Greenwich Village and the Ford Museum. In the summer the band marched at the Mermaid Festi- val in North Websterg and a few days before school started, the band also marched at Riverview. This fall the band received new uniforms through the courtesy of our Band Booster Organization. They are pictured in the various ways they can be worn on the preceding pages. The band wore these uniforms for the first time for a con- cert it played at Shortridge High School in Indianapolis for the Music Educator's Society of Indiana. K HX HIGH UHHHL MARCH!
