School Song Faithful and true-hearted, Let us cheer our dear uOld High, We revere her and defend her, And her colors proudly fly, We will stand for her, united, Of her deeds we gladly tell, Her colors streaming, Glad faces beaming, So here's a cheer for her That we all love so well. fl Chorus: Joyous and ever loyal, Let us boost for our nOld High,' Let ev'ry heart sing, Let ev'ry voice ring, There's no time to grieve or sigh, It's ever onward, our course pursuing, May defeat ne'er our ardor cool, But united, We will boost for her, X Our old High School! L Honors she has taken, On the track and with the ball, May she always rank the highest, May her colors never fall, There's no other that can match her, When her team is on the field, Her boys the fleetest, Her girls the sweetest, Then here's a cheer for her, For her who ne'er will yield. In times cast, there have been plans for a reunion, but these plans have all failed, mostly because of the lack of money. Last Thursday the last menber, Ted Francis, was initiated into nThe Johnson County Poor House.n After twen- ty-five years in darkest Africa as a missionary, he boarded a boat and sailed for America. We might add, it took his last cent for passage on the boat, but he said that hexvould- n't stay in Africa for any amount of money and be eaten by Cannibals. He said he had been in the cooking pot three times but that they decided there wasn't enough of him. That night we had our reunion. Seated around the old wood stove, we all told our stories. We all agreed that in the order of our arrival here at the 'Poor Housen we would tell our life history since leaving Knob Noster High. John Allen was brought here in 1961. After having been married six months, his wife left him, taking his life's savings of rabbit money. With a very sad look on his face, Melvin began telling his story. Melvin Foster has spent most of his life pro- posing to a certain girl, who is now an old maid. He had invested his money that he made farming in fur coats and.dia- mond rings. Alta Peery was married the day after graduation. After one year of marriage, her husband deserted her and their quadruplets. After trying for one week to support them, she gave up. It took all of her money for baby sitters. Kenneth Weikal is considered to be the wealthiest man in the nPoor House.' He has a full set of gold teeth. Due to the fact that it took all of his money for dentist bills, he is residing here. Robert Dawes married a very expensive wife. He bought a dry cleaning businessg but, since the invention of plastic clothes, his business wilted. Lawrence Atwell lost all of his money running for the presidency. After twenty-five years of campaigning, the Republican party decided they should dispense with his ser- vices. Charles Miller also ran for the presidency. He tried for ten years, but, of course, he could not compete with Atwell. He finally gave up. Bill Parrott used all of his money running from the girls. He still remains a bachelor. 27 Jeanette Nichols bought a restaurant, but, when beauty faded so did business, but she still remains the belle of the UPoor House.H Alan Richeson went to an art institute, but, instead of drawing the assigned pictures, he drew cartoons of the teach ers instead. They finally had to dispose of him. Eldred Schubert, after proposing to his girl friend and being turned down each time, made being a bum his vocation. James Zink was employed as a driver for a trucking firm but the firm decided it cost more to transport James than it did the pay load. Inez Baily made the dreadful mistake of marrying James Zink. After enduring many Years of rough treatment and rearing twelve children, Inez decided that there's no place like the HPoor House.U Mr. Allen tried going on the stage and reciting Shakes- peare. But we guess he is about the only one who likes it because there were only three people in the audience his wife and two children. Sue Richeson, being an old maid, had to go live with her brother. But he could not put up with her, so he final- ly had to kick her out. Faye Judd went to result of the fact made ditch digging Wayne Corbett wife left him. He Eunice Jacobs Star, but it seems she her was college to seek her fortune, but as a made the lowest grades in class, she career. married five times. Five times his lost his money paying alimony. replaced Dorothy Dix in the Kansas City ' her advice was not appreciated. The Senior Class has one consolationzx we are all liv- ing together under the same roof. - . Mrs. Gilbert: Kenneth, can you give me Lincoln's Gettysburg address? Kenneth: Gee, teacher, I didn't even know he lived there. Miss Fight: Lawrence, if you don't be quiet I'm going to have to change you. Lawrence: Miss Fight, don't you think I'm a little old for that? Melvin is a gentleman farmer: he tips his hat every time he meets a tomato. 28 fl EH ,signin X Front View' Back View? I'm an old Cow Hand The Pride of K. N. At the ages of five and six we became possessed with the sins and evils of the underworld. Then we learned, as all criminalslearn, 'Crime Doesn't Pay.n WDog Daysn Dawes and VRugged Rat Richeson and their gang, which was composed of their gun molls, Blondie Peery, Sue Richeson, alias Peroxide Sal, and Half-Nelson Nichols were sent up for twelve years Ru'putting slugs in bubble gum machines, robbing the cradle, and trans- porting stolen tricycles over the county line. All this occurred in the year l939. We were assigned cell block one. James Zink, alias the UFat Boyn wasn't caught by the groping hand of the truant officer until a half year later. Half- Nelson Nichols was sent cross country to Utah. Atwell nThe Brainn was transferred here from St. Louis. He was sent up for breach of promise. Corbett, transferred from the Wood- land County Jail, was sent here for letting air out of trac- tor tires. After one year, Atwell was sent out on good be- havior to the county jail at Pleasant Prarie and served a term of three years because he tried to tell the jailkeepers how to run things. He returned to the WBig Housen in his seventh year of prison. Gentle Judd and Sleepy Jacobs were sent to the WBig Housen from the Brushville County Jail. In the year of our Lord l9h7,we had begun to run things pretty well in the WBig Houseng so we decided that we would initiate new mugs into the mob. The new additions and their crimes are as follows: Crash Miller and Runt Foster sent up for putting aspirins in cokes and selling the pro- duct for genuine home brewg Dictionary Allen, sent up for trapping mice without a license, Little Red Bailey, sent up for spitting in the cue chalk, Half-Nelson Nichols returned this year for selling flea powder for Madame You Need Glass- es Face Powderg nMoltyW Parrott, nBaby Facen Weikal, and UShiftyn Schubert, for licking the mucilage off the post- age stamps in the post office. Then came our eleventh year on the rock pile. We had a welcome addition: a great badmt- ball and square-dancing star joined the mob. He was sent up for perjury. fGet it?J Soon our twelfth year will be up Boy, will that be nice! They say the weather is finecntdde. 30 A CD 3? v-3 S I- 35 UI f The Villain 1 , , :HTA - V 15: Qyizyla .
