These eighth graders may be found ready to begin a relay or for roll call. The main purpose of physical educa- tion is to learn sportsmanship while having a good time. Physical educa- tion is one of the extras offered to students of K.l-I.S. Others are: band, chorus, art, health, speech, and drivers' education. These subjects help the student to learn to work with others They are a deviation from the regular class type work. The students enjoy these extras very muchi f4W4uez'qafS yecte The one thing to remember about any power tool is to be careful when using it Garry Sharp rs telling two seventh grade boys. Our vocational department which includes shop drafting priming agriculture and home economics, prepares our students for farming homemaking and various types of work The students practice their cooking, wood working, and soil testing in the classroom where they are taught to work on their own This way their mother's kitchens and father s workshops are saved

Do you want to be a secretary typist or Journalist? If so you can gain practical experience in our business edu- cation department as Sharon Knot is doing Along with typing business math, business English, bookkeeping, and shorthand are also taught Our business department prepares the business students so they may acquire good Jobs directly after high school or go on to higher education in a business college. 4 . dz A 4 The current trend in education is for more college trained persons. At K.H.S. the college prep courses are many and varied. Mr. Stanley dem- onstrates to Karon Ripberger, Gary Rowan, and Jay Jones how Archimedes Principle is derived in this illustration. Other subjects in the college prep de- partment are: English, Latin, and Spanish in the language department, Algebra, plane geometry, advanced algebra, solid geomentry, and trigo- nometry in the math department, general science, chemistry, physics and biology in the science departmentg and world history, U.S. history, and civics in the social studies department. All these departments work together to help produce our future contributions to the world of scholars.

Zzewfafz0wa ' Many students have no way to get to school only by bus. The men who provide bus rides for these students are: James Couch, George Smiley, Roy Roland, Elsie Pitts, Paul Hunt, Wendall Guinn. Hobart Williams, Lester Starbuck, Fred Wamer, and Roy Hamm not pictured. The feeding of hungry students is a task, but our cooks take pride in sewing good and wholesome meals to our students. They are: Mrs. Jay Howard, Mrs. Arlie Brammer, Mrs. Idela Conner, Mrs. Vera Durham, Mrs. Ralph Haff, Mrs. George Smiley, Mrs. Murray Darling, Mrs. Norris Thomas. Not shown are Mrs. James Maxwell and Mrs. Harry McNew and Ann Gorham. These boys are sponsored by the American Automobile Association from whom they receive their belts and badges. The patrol boys watch the young grade school children as they cross the street to and from school. They are: ROW ONE: Ronnie Brammer, Rickey Sipes, Robert Goodpasture, Joe Flack, Ronnie Walker, Ronnie Williams ROW TWO: Ronnie Burton, Charles Rat- liff, Larry Ertel, Greg Boatright, Freedie Hicks. ROW THREE: Freddie Brooks, Leroy Walker, David Stephens, Neal Hinton, David Brammer. The schools in our consolidated system are kept clean, attractive and warm all year long. Those responsible for this good service are: Murray Darling, Kenneth Sorrell, Victor Wing, Ralph Mattix, Belvin Durham, and Roy Hamm not pictured. W W
