NOT PICTURED: Gary Miller. Pep Band Performance at Game Knappa’s band, under the direction of Chuck Bolton, played at all pep assemblies and games, besides partici¬ pating in contests and concerts. Several smaller groups, including a brass quartet, saxophone quartet, and stage band, were formed out of the band proper. These groups performed at various community functions and con¬ tests. This years band, the largest in the school’s history, was outfitted in newly purchased blue blazers. Highlights of the year were the annual music contest held at Astoria High School on March 4, and the Christmas and Spring school concerts. The Spring Concert featured the No¬ tables , the highly acclaimed Gresham stage band, in a successful finale to the year. 51
