Stewart S Bartlett The Knappa Chapter of the Future Homemakers of America held several money making pro¬ jects this year which financed club activities and the trip of two members, Mary Korhonen and Janet Johnson, to the State FHA Convention in Corvallis, March 31 and April 1. Pie, cookie, and candy sales were held a't school throughout the year, and toothbrushes and cookbooks were sold in the community. The club' also provided free babysitting service at PTA meetings and various community functions. A Valentine’s potluck dinner and a banquet were held, with FHA members preparing, serving, and enjoying the food. The annual installation of new officers was held in May. The National Honor Society held pie sales during the school year to raise funds for the club treasury. Twelve new members were chosen from the Junior and Senior classes on the basis of scholarship, leadership, character, and service. Most of these students had been pledged previously. A formal installation of new mem¬ bers was held December 6 in the library. Several members gave speeches on the qualities of Honor Society members, and Mr. Richard Knotts, Warrenton schools superintendent, gave the main address. New members signed the roll, recieved carnations, and were sworn into the club. A skit staged April 25 in the gym announced the selection of five pledges to the Honor Society. These pledges, a small per¬ centage of the Sophomore class, were so honored because they have shown themselves to be promising candidates for the club. One of the club's projects is to obtain actual teaching experience by being teacher aids in the grade school. Teresa Aho, Kristina Niemelin, and Marcia Johnsen, club members, attended a FTA convention at Oregon College of Education on February 4. 43
