For this rea¬ son, it is important that we are care¬ fully guided toward our life ' s goal by ever increasing knowledge in every field. In the classroom, as our minds grow and develop, we are led to a better understanding of life in the world around us. Through clubs and parties we are led to better under¬ standing of our fellow citizens, and through sports we learn to accept dis¬ appointments as well as victory. Realizing the manner in which we have been guided, toward the future during these formative years, we of the staff have chosen as a theme for the Sword and Shield All our past acclaims our future. and Shield Volume III 1963 All our past This is Mr. Knapp, for whom the school was named. Homemaking education has always been concerned with the well being of individuals and families; therefore, it makes a unique contribution for intelligent and effec¬ tive family and community living. In the instructional program, ex¬ periences are provided which offer opportunity for participation in solving personal and family problems in re¬ lationships, management, housing, child development, goo d nutrition, clothing, and health. Emphasis is given to creating and appreciating beauty, to working to¬ gether democratically, to establishing values, to making intelligent choices, to managing resources--time, energy and money, and developing house¬ keeping skills.
