Calendar A AUGUST Z7 Registration 30 School began. 33 seventh-graders got lost on the way to class SEPTEMBER , 3 State Fair opened 7 First baseball game--we won, by one run! Morenci 5, Klondike 6 10 State Fair closed. Klondike outplayed Monitor 7 to 5 13 Seniors started torturing the freshmen 14 We lost by 13 runs--Dayton 21, K.H.S. 8 15 Everyone was seated by Demmy--the Seniors finally took the treasured seats by the radiators 17 Initiation ended, much to the relief of the bleary-eyed freshmen. We lost again, to Buck Creek-- 12 to 8 Z1 We finished the baseball season with a victory over Battle Ground: B.G.H.S. 5, K.H.S. 10 24 This year's Nugget made its first appearance. Freshman party OCTOBER 1 Teachers had a bang-up time at Mrs. Robbins' party 7 Juniors took a hay-ride fSee Snapshots, 8 8th grade party 13 Forgery came to the fore .... Report cards were distributed 15 Several girls turned green watching appendicitis operation during the convo Life in the Big House. Everyone had a good time at the P.T.A Carnival that night 16 7th grade party. Mrs. Ray's car got ruined on her way to the Senior party 18 Seniors started soliciting ads for the Prospector 19 Yell leaders selected. Seniors worked like mad to get the Nugget finished Z0 Nugget issued 21 Teachers' Institute .... School's Out! Z2 Seniors still roamed the streets for ads Z7 Juniors ran around like chickens with their heads off Z8 Opening night of Junior Play Too Many Re1atives 29 Mr. Mertz became the proud poppa of a baby girl NOVEMBER l Prospector sales began Z Election day. . . Many bets placed 3 Many sad faces. But everyone perked up to have his picture taken 5 Basketball season opened with the Nuggets victorious. Monitor Z8, Klondike 33 8 4-H Junior Leader Banquet at Lincoln Lodge 9 Juniors toured Journal Courier 10 Seniors gave skit to pep up yearbook sales 11 Some of us knocked off to see the Jeff-West Side football game 35

NOVEMBER lZ Brookston swept us off our feet, 49 to 34 16 4-H Achievement Banquet in school gym l7 Seniors journeyed to Attica to have their pictures taken .... Only one flat tire! I9 Shorthand class celebrated Mrs. Smith's birthday with cake and ice cream. Noisy pep session. The Nuggets fell before Battleground 52 to Z5 Z3 A wild scramble to meet the Nugget deadline Z4 Speaker for convocation. Seniors got proofs. Everyone got report cards. We played Shadeland and came out on the short end of the score 49 to 35 Z5 Thanksgiving vacation .... Pass the turkey, please Z9 Everyone shivering and hugging the radiators DECEMBER 3 Everyone gone--to typing exhibit at Fowler Hotel or to the Legislative Assembly at Purdue. West Point 37, Klondike 35-- just one long shot, but it was too good 8 Juniors and Seniors got weighed in Health Class. Lots of groans! 9 Big game at noon--lst grade vs. lst grade! 10 First ice-skating of the season. The Wea Indians scalped Klondike 47 to 35 13 Pictures finally arrived from National Studio .... More groans and laughs. The Juniors sported shiny new class rings 16 Convo speaker told us all the dangers of alcohol 17 Seniors received their pictures at last. Jackson fell all over Klondike, 50 to Z5 18 First nice snow. Senior class party Z0 Everyone started cramming 21 Teachers gaily decorated their rooms while we slaved on exams Z3 We spent the morning celebrating Christmas. Raised the roof at pep session. The Nuggets bowed to Stockwell 34 to 44 23 Turn off that alarm clock! , Z5 Ate big Christmas dinner 26 Took bicarbonate of soda Z8 Rain, rain, go away 31 The ice is safe again--well, almost! JANUARY 1 Resolutions made. Otterbein won the New Year's Tourney Z Resolutions broken 3 School resumed. Mr. Mertz brought goldfish for his room. Mrs. Ray gave the Senior boys a dancing lesson. Ow, my cornsf 4 Several girls were still vacationing in California 5 Report cards passed out to pupils. Several pupils passed out 7 Shadeland fetched us again, 40 to 34 8 Temperature was 600 F. Warm for January 19 County Tourney began 20 We almost beat Dayton ZZ Dayton carried home the trophy Z4 Pictures taken for the yearbook. Z5 Freshman party Z8 Juniors turned out the Nugget. We beat Wea by two points scored in the last minute of a very exciting game--47 to 45. . 36
