At 14.200 a.m., we left from Klemme, which was the beginning of the traditional Senior.Sk1p Day. Upon arrival in Omaha, after either sleeping or several games of '500', we ate breakfast at Howard Johnsons. We traveled then to Boys' Town and were taken on a very interesting tour there. After a fascinating walk through and shopping at the Westroads Shopping Center, we visited the Sterz Brewery on their last day of brewing beer. While there, we were offered a beverage and potato chips. Since our trip to the zoo was rained out, we instead went shopping or bowling at the Crossroads Shopping Center. Back again at Westroads, we attended a movie of our choice, and then dined at Bishop's. After a quietC?J ride home, Skip Day for the 1972 Seniors came to an end. GRADUATICJN1972 gov. Llgid Gross, of the P9806 Re ormed urch, gave the sermon for Baccalaureate exercises held May 1hth in the Klemme High School Auditorium. The Senior Sextet, Shirley Smith, Marge Nannenga, Renee Brinkman, Diane Hummel, Mary Bruhl, and Connie Schmidt, sang NWe've Only Just Begun.n Ushers were Marla Katter and Lance Arnold. Dorothy Nannenga was pianist. Com encement for the 1972 grad- uating class was held May 19th at 8:00 p.m. in the Klenme High School Auditorium. The class chose an as its flower the yellow rose d as its colors, purple and white. The class motto was: Wwe are largely the architects of our future.n Sue Lemke gave the invocation and Nyla Bridges read the class history. The entire class sang nGraduation Dayu and nTo Sir With Love.n Diane Hummel and Mike Denny received the UI Dare Youn awards. Marge Nannenga was the winner of the vocal award and Connie Schmidt received the band award. Connie Schmidt also received the Iowa Bar Award. Nola Blank, Salutatorian, gave a speech in which she encouraged the class to look forward to the future, because it is their responsibility to build their futures. Valedictorian, Connie Soh idt, also gave her speech in which she looked back to the past and thanked all those people, teachers, parents, and friends, who had any part in laying the foundations of the class's future. Roger Carlsson, foreign exchange student from Sweden, also gave a short speech thanking the community and his host family for his year here in Klem e. Marge Nannenga gave the bene- diction and graduation cere- monies ended for the 1972 Seniors. i Sw :Wa enrvasugaiuas In U 'Sfdaatduawwuwafkaawaeaa4aafuaaa .QFT QHWWEWKMHM ,.H. ,.,..,,,,,, 2, Qmhqweswwni ,,., aaadmtaauanamvwwoaua z di 'U 44 l 'H Yi 11 into :afxifiwqr 1972 Graduating Class I Dare You Award Winne x ' JUNIORS Sponsors: Mr. Friedow, Mrs. Duran, Mrs. Katter, Mr, Wriedt. Tom led the Conference in rebounding and was in the top most categories involving statistics and earned him first team all-conference. Renee was chosen as the athlete of the year for her contribution to the girls' athletic program. Renee was a starting forward on the basketball team and provided the spark needed for the team to progress throughout the year. Thursday evening the years activities began when each high school class presented a skit. The winning skit was put on by the Junior class. Their prised composition was entitled HShowdown at Shamrock.H This was followed by a bonfire and pep rally put on by the cheerleaders. The highlight of the evening was the snake dance which led down mainstreet and concluded with more cheering. Fhch class again constructed floats and the winning one this year was by the Fresh- man, Wdappiness is a Victory.H These floats, and one carrying the football players, along with convertibles of candidates and the band, composed the parade which went through Klemme, Friday afternoon. The evening ended with a triumph over Pnl, ?O-6. During halftime the Homecoming Ying and Queen candidates were presented. Woln Plank and Wayne Flaten were crowned Wing and nueen of Homecoming 1971. Student Directors were Beth Roths and Nola Blank. The play concerned the murder trial of Karen Andre, a secretary to the victim Bjorn Faulkner. A unique feature of this play is that the audience played a major role. The jury, selected from the audience, decided the verdict at the end of the play. The cast was fully prepared for either verdict and presented an astonishing and surprising ending to this production. Wake up Judge. All together now' LCCAL SPEECH: Top row, left to right: M.
