54 Words Words 1 Words are used every day by many people for communication, education, and business. un. Homework, Car. All words. According to Websters Dic- tionary, there are over 50,000 words in the English language, not to men- tion French, Latin, Spanish, and Ger- man. Even though there are many words, the average persons vocabulary is only around 1,500 words. ln school, English, as well as other languages, expands our vocabulary by teaching us new words. Our entire language is based on words, we learn by way of word, we write words, talk words and even think words. All in all, words are a major part of everyday life.
