Soph Cagers Reign Atop District 16 4 The 1978-79 sophotnore basketball team overcame a slow start to power their way to the district 164A crown. 17-8 overall and 13-I in dislriet 17161.12 the sophoinores had big wins at Cy-Fair and Httnzble. Their only dis- triet loss was to Conroe, 56-49. The team tied for the ehainpionship as jreshinelz, and this year they dedieated themselves to the goal of being sole district champions. The .sophomores used quickness and strong play off the boards to realize their goal. Hard work and the desire to be the best were the keys to a very stzeeess- ftii season. Stunts and cheers filled their days as they strivecl for perfection. The cheerleaders were the stars ofMustang pep rallies and football sidelines. The sponsor was Susie Merritt.
